| ![]() Hot Rod is scared of just about everything but at the same time he will be the first one to stand up and bark if something isn't right. He's always been the alpha. He will test me from time to time and what I do is say a command, be it "come" and I will just say it once while looking in his eyes and point my finger downward and wait him out. He will eventually give in and come over. We've played this little game for 5 minutes at a time. Once he comes over I praise him all over and his full of kisses and wags. Maggie May is very submissive and shy. She's gotten so much better than when she was a baby, she will greet a new situation head on but then show her submissiveness by cowering and turning her belly up. She willingly will listen and if she doesn't all I have to do is shake the treat bag, lol.

| ![]() Find out what she really likes and use that for her reward. It may be treats, or a favorite squeaky toy, or praise from you. And once a day, hold her and tell her how much you love her, even if she has had a hard time behaving or has done bad things that day. Don't go to bed mad! And I think you're a good mommie for seeing that something wasn't right and taking steps to correct it. She'll trust you again, in time. Try to catch her when she is resting and give her a gentle tummy rub. It may help her to get past the Alpha Roll. Don't push if she seems nervous, eventually she'll allow you to do it for longer periods. And above all, have patience! Keep us updated on how she's doing!
