| Thank goodness that little Poms guardian angel was on duty. This would have not happen if she had left the little dog inside somewhere cozy and as far away from the fireworks noise as possible. How many times have dog owners been warned of the dangers fireworks noise can cause, and even the radio and TV stations are always putting the warnings out.

![]() Regarding the vultures -- my understanding is that some vultures do their own killing. In our area, turkey vultures (red heads) eat roadkill but black vultures (black heads) have all the killing capability of hawks. | |

| To discourage predatory birds place several large mirrored gazing balls through out your yard. Raptors are territorial and if they see there reflection they will think it's another bird and may look for new territory.I've wondered if this is what happened to a missing Yorkie from another thread.I sure hope not.

| I don't think so. There are some disturbing Youtubes out there of hawks, owls, etc. that try to take a larger-than-mouse animals. They have a fight on their hands(claws) and it takes a good while before they fly off with it. The other dog you're talking about wasn't alone that long and had a few friends with him. |

| Last week a hawk killed and carried off a squirrel in my yard!! I saw him carrying the squirrel. Usually the animal is killed by the talons. That little Pom was very lucky.
