Is shipping a puppy safe?

Personally, I would not "ship" a puppy. When I need to get a pup from here to there and it is too far for me to hand deliver or for the new Mom and Dad to come here, I use a "Personal Escort" service. The pup is picked up at either Atlanta or Birmingham airport, flown in the cabin with the escort and then personally handed over to the new owners. It's worth a few extra $$ to see that the pups get this type of care.

I am buying my new baby from a breeder in Texas (Southeast Texas Yorkies, they are also members on this site) and I am in constant contact with the breeder. She emails me daily on how my little girl is doing, sends me photos, links on youtube so I can watch her playing with her brothers and sisters, and the breeder will be shipping her to me via Continental Airlines as I live in Las Vegas. I have done extensive research on how they care for the puppies in flight and have found nothing but positive feedback. I trust that my breeder would do what was in the absolute best interest of the puppy. I am so excited to be getting my first Yorkie (and dog for that matter)! So, to the original post, I say make absolutely sure that your breeder ships only with Continental or another reputable company that puts the animal's care first.

Hey! I'm interested just for statistical info, even though I don't ship, in cabin or cargo. My main reason for this is that I want to meet the new family face to face. It keeps my puppies in close proximity to me and since I offer free grooming for the life of the puppy it allows me to see them on a regular basis.

I do not allow my rescues to be shipped...matter of fact, our group forbids it. I think most rescues do not allow it.

I have seen some do those "trains", but I don't like them either. Too many things can go wrong.

I am totally with you on placement. I also want to meet the person who is adopting. I maintain contact with all of my adopters.
