update on pete? thinking of you!

Pete is doing ok for his condition, he has his bouts of energy and will get up and walk around, DH didn't want me to take him in for treatment, he told me if I took him in it would be to put him down... so I couldnt take him in... I have been making sure he is drinking water and I have to feed him a liquid diet, he doesnt like it but I make sure he gets it, only thing is he cant hold anything down so he throws it all up about 10-15min later. I am going to give him another day, he seems to be improving but then something happens and it goes out the window... I dont want him to suffer and if I had the money to do more treatments I would, I used all the money I had yesterday for the vet. will update tomorrow... good night

I am so sorry to hear about Petey. How old is he? How long has he been on his treatment?

Thank you, Pete is 10months old, and he is one of my mini dachshunds. He was only on treatment at the vet for a day, like I said before DH said if I took him in it would be to put him down. So I have been following the instructions that the dr gave me and he is ok... DH thinks he won't make it... I have a little hope, but I just don't want him to suffer...I am afraid to make the wrong decision... I don't want him to suffer but at the same time I want him to get better... you know what I mean?

Sorry I'm a little confused...If you've been wanting your yorkie for two years, but you already had the other dogs, how can he be ten months old.

Also, today ay mass I lit a candle for little Petey..I really hope he is okay. :xfingers:

ok, I posted this already, but my older dog Saidee, had a litter, then we kept one then she had a litter, and we kept Pete, I had to give away my other female b/c she was way to hyper for us and the kids. So now we have Saidee(gma) and Pete(grandson). when I got saidee and before she got pregnant, I was pregnant and had a miscarraige and b/c I guess I felt something was missing idk, I wanted another puppy and that was my yorkie ... Pete is ok I guess. nothing has really changed w/ him, still the same.

I'm not sure if I'm misreading your post but that sounded rather rude. I was very nice in asking my question and I had no nasty intentions. Best of wishes to Pete and hopefully you can get your yorkie at a better suited time.

I am not trying to be rude, but how do you get me being rude from my anseweing your questions? I didn't use any type of bold print, exclamation points or anything that would show I was being rude. I don't know how you can get an emotion out of reading something. I was just letting you know that I had already posted how I got my two dogs is all... fwew... I mean, it's still very sad, but I was thinking that your husband didn't want to be taken in for treatment and if you took him in, you'd have to put him down. :eek:

:eek: roflmao!, that is so funny... oh man, that made me laugh, thank you I needed that... as you can tell he is my 10month old dachshund puppy. DH said if he doesnt show any kind of improvement by friday, we will prob end up putting him down. :( I will keep everyone informed and thank you to those that lit candles I really apreciate the prayers.

I agree. I would only push so hard. I still live with my parents and have been asking for a puppy for a while too, but only because our other two dogs were getting really old. 14 & 17 years old! They had no life left in them and the 17 year old was way past her expiration date if you know what I mean. She couldnt walk anymore to go out side. We had to feed her on the floor cause she couldnt get up and she was TOTALLY incontinent. She peed and pooped everywhere. I was talking to my parents all the time about putting her down cause she was just suffering so much! Plus they said we could get a puppy after she was gone. So one day, being that delinquent 20 year old that I am... I came home with a yorkie puppy (Penelope) one day. My mom immediately fell in love with her. My brothers and boyfriend did too. My step dad on the other had was SOOO mad that I went behind his back and did that! He was pissed at my mom too cause she said we were keeping her. He didnt talk to me for weeks and my mom for one week. My brothers kept reminding me about how pissed he was. After about two months of completely ignoring the dog and giving me dirty looks and making my me feel horrible... he starting giving in. Now he calls her "little dog". If its going to ruin your marriage dont do it. If you think that eventually he will warm up to it then its up to you. Just be prepared for a long fight and lots of dirty looks.

In my experience if a dog is suffering and there is no hope for recovery just put him down. I know its hard but you need to do what is best for Petey. Trust me on this he is VERY sick and it sounds like you know it needs to be done. Just have the courage to put him down and the sooner you do it the less pain he will have and the sooner your emotional wounds will heal. It just needs to be done.

Carla, how is Pete today? I have been praying for him since I first started reading your thread. I hope he has made some improvement by now. I'm sorry to hear that hubby is being unsupportive regarding treatments for him. Having one of your dogs be sick is a stressful and scary time and you need as much support as possible. I'm rooting for you and Pete.
