| !!! Holiday Hazzards !!! Just wanted to share a something that happened to me over the Thanksgiving weekend that could have ended terribly but fortunately did not. I had a houseful of guest for about 6 days last week so needless to say that I and my brain were running 90 miles an hour. Well, one morning my sis and I decided to take advantage of some of the sales going on and we stopped at Walgreens for something or another and they happened to have raisins (needed them for my apple salad). Well, we got home and I just plopped the bag down around the corner out of site. My brother asked me for something which was in that bag and he took out what he needed and left the bag open on the floor. Well, my sis and I decided to visit another sis who lives about an hour away and then we went shopping an hour from there. My brother and his family had all gone out as well. All of a sudden, I remembered about the raisins in the box, in the bag which is on floor! And I'm 2 hours away from home! Thankfully hubby works 5 mins from home and I called him in a panic and he ran home to check things out. Thank God the dogs had not discovered the bag or the box of raisins. And as some of you know what terrors these little guys can be when it comes to tearing up paper and boxes!!! With the holidays coming up, I just wanted to remind everyone of the potential dangers lurking about for our furbutts. It could be something as innocent as my leaving the box of raisins in the grocery bag or maybe some chocolate being left out on a coffee table or wedging down in the sofa. Just Please Be Careful!!! I've not had raisins in the house since we had Hot Rod so I had completely forgotten about the box that I bought. Just take an extra few minutes and make sure that all of the no-no's Hot Rod, Maggie May and I hope everyone has a great and safe holiday season!!!

| A couple of other holiday reminders. Watch for Christmas light cords. Gypsy chewed through one when she was a pup. Luckily they were unplugged but when we plugged them in, we def found the broken part. Remind your guests do not feed the babies! My dad has a habit of "one little bite won't hurt them". Yes it can!

| People feeding a pup can get them in the ER very quickly. Especially our little ones...it doesn't take much. Fortunately we have a family of dog lovers & they know not to feed those pleading brown eyes.

| Don't forget the tinsel! I always put tinsel on the tree, but not at a level where my babies can get to it. Well, when I was out Sunday, my husband saw Rhianna chewing on something; it was a piece of tinsel. She got up on the couch, stood up on the arm of the couch and reached a piece of it . . . He said he went over to her and it was like she was eating spaghetti . . he said he pulled it out and it was like pulling out a piece of string, it just kept coming . . . So, unfortunately, not even tinsel at a higher level is safe . . .so off went the tinsel . . .

| Close call! Jackson got a small piece of a chocolate cupcake on Thanksgiving day over here and luckily, he was totally fine. But it can happen so fast!

| Thanks so much for the reminders. I never even thought about tinsel. We haven't used it in years, but my husband really likes it so I went out, and bought a couple of boxes. Well I guess he won't be surprised after all cause now I won't use it.

| I posted this in another thread also.... even though all of us know better, be very careful of visitors with Turkey skin, it can cause pancreatitis, vets report a high volume of cases during thanksgiving and Christmas. Also Ham it is very high in fat and can cause the same sypmtoms. In Ceasers recent Magazine there is a article about this saying that our little furbutts look so cute while begging for some delicious holiday treats that auntie and grandma and grampa, want to slip them a peice of this and that which will later cause us 100's of dollars at the vet and cause a very sick dog!! Just some more info!!

| Thank you for posting. I've learned so much from fellow YTers on this site. I had my family over for Thanksgiving dinner and had to announce "please don't feed Max" before eating

| I am skipping the tinsel this year as well. We put it on last year (up high) and it always managed to fall off of the tree to where Missy could get it. It's just not worth it.
