I asked Richard (Reesiesdad) to please post but I felt like I had to sign on and do it.

I came home empty handed today

This is what happened:

I got a reply from my craigslist ad. A woman that is looking for a rescue small pet has been seeing my posts every few days.
She said something just struck her and she remembered something.

Some time just before Thanksgiving she noticed her neighbor that always walks a chihuahua was now walking the chihuahua plus a tiny yorkie.
This woman usually sees the chihuahua and alwas says hi and pets the little dog. So she asked the girl "OMG where did you get that yorkie!"
The girl paused and told her "We were at Port Saint Lucie and saw it by the side of a street. I picked it up and kept it"

The lady said that by the expression on the girl's face she could tell
that they had NO intention of looking for the owner.
So today I went and waited to see when she would come out to walk the dogs but , she didnt come out at all.
I knocked on several apartments in the building and asked about a new small dog. It was creepy being there and almost everyone didnt want to help or seemed to care. Only one woman asked to keep the flyer and she just showed real sadness when she saw his picture.
This is not close to my house. In fact its over 30 miles away.

What stuck in my mind and its what made me take this very serious is when she said "We were in port saint lucie, saw it on the side of the street and are keeping it"

ugh!

The lady that contacted me was afraid to be seen with me because she's afraid if it happens to be Cookie that these people will start trouble for her.
I saw her and all and she was out there looking and I was parked near by but nothing.

On my way home I got totally lost and I just wanted to cry again. I get a call from a Pet Rescue worker that works for a bunch of rescues in Port saint lucie and she read my story and felt so terrible that she offered to go to all of these places to get flyers out and make them aware.
Also she said that she would go on any leads with me if I needed.
She's telling me all this and I just burst in tears and she thought I hung up. I told her that I had her number and will call her later to give her the info.

Then I get home and go straight to the kitchen and start dinner ...
the phone rings again and I didnt even pick up I just mumbled to myself "Yeah sure , you saw a yorkie where?" I did call the lady back a few minutes ago. A neighbor of hers knocked on doors about 2 months ago asking if they were missing a yorkie because he had found one and he didnt find the owner that his family was keeping it

She gave me the address and its about 5 miles away.

I dont know what I feel right now honestly. I just feel like "how much more can I take???" When will it end?
I'm so sorry that today did not bring the happy ending I thought it would.
I was soooo sure that this was an amazing lead that I didnt sleep and had a headache lastnight.

I'm sorry if I didnt make much sense. I'm just falling asleep but I'm going to wait until at least 10 so I can knock out until tomorrow.

I'm so sorry. Maybe someone will speak up and say something if it's Cookie. You're in my thoughts and prayers. I was really hoping that this lead was it and you and Cookie would be together again

I'm so sorry Cookie didn't come home today. There is still a chance that those leads will lead to Cookie's safe return home. I hope the morning finds you rested, energized, and with the strength you need to bring your baby home. Hang in there! We're all praying for you!!!!

Gen, i'm sorry today didn't turn out well. Maybe the person who has her works all day and you will make out better on the weekend. Did the person who told you about the day she saw remember what day she saw it?

Gen, I keep watch on your thread ,and each day I keep hoping and praying this will be your and Cookies day to be reunited. With your determination and Cookies love for you, it will happen and I hope the day is near. I haven't heard anything else from the Dr. Phil show, yet!!!!! I tried to call the number on my caller ID and it just ask for me to enter the extention, I of course do not have that. You are an awsome person and good, will come, of all of your efforts. Keeping you in prayer. Sharon, Joey, Cabella and the six puppies---that are completly OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!!LOL

Gen, I'm so terribly sorry that you weren't able to bring Cookie home today. Like many, many others who follow this thread and feel for your situation, I'm disappointed for you, and I'm also angry that people would be so thoughtless as to keep someone else's pet. Whether it turns out to be Cookie or not, someone somewhere is pining for that little one.

I believe we get away with nothing in this life and these people will reap what they sow. And so will you, Gen, and you have sown a lot of good seeds through your ordeal. Rest assured that you will be rewarded, and I can't think of a better reward for you than to have Cookie home again safe. Every difficult and trying day, you get closer and closer.
