Something that came to mind late last night, as the pressure mounts to find Cookie and to have the 'holders' return him if he was taken, he might just be returned in the middle of the night. Make sure your yard is secure! No holes. If you have security lights pay attention to them in the night. It would be a drop-and-run. It's snowing up here but is it still open-window weather down there? Keeps your ears open to little sounds.

I hope the efforts by Sandy and others to make this a TV story pan out. We have to keep building the pressure and to keep looking.

Just checking in to see if cookie's home yet.

I have two things on my xmas wish list for santa this year: one is for my little Missy to keep getting better, and one is for Cookie to come home. That's it. Hope Santa is good to me this year.

I don't think I've ever seen so many replies to a thread on ANY forum I've ever been on.There are some awsome people here. Gen, you are an amazing person for doing all that you've done.I know you'll be reunited with Cookie soon. I think it's wonderful that you decided to keep little Jasper.

I admit I have dark, not-very-nice feelings for whoever took Cookie. In all my life....I've never even heard the word that would fit this person. But if that person puts Cookie back in his yard.....that would mean he/she has a soul. Please, if your reading this.....it's not too late to redeem yourself. I know in my heart you'll never be happy with this dog knowing you have broken so many hearts but not their spirts. Do the right thing and restore what you have taken away. Take the reward money if you need it that badly. Who cares? It's only money. But this little dog wants to be home with his family. This is their little boy. They are his Mommy and Daddy. Find the compassion here at Christmas time to bring joy. You will be blessed even now and you will be forgiven.

I just got back and you know I have always thought that this is a possibility.The first ten days or so we kept the front porch lights and our backyard lights on in case he found his way back.
But then Itold my husband to shut them off in case someone just wanted to drop him off in the backyard. Ive also thought that I would find him in the front step in a cage or crate with a taped note that just said SORRY.

I hope this person has a change of heart and drops him off.
Everytime someone calls me with a possible lead or a tip I let them know. I just want him back. I will NOT press charges. I just need to get him back.
I make sure they understand that.

Going out on a lead . Someone called saying they saw a tiny yorkie type dog drinking from a puddle. They actually left and came back but it was not there

Just want to pass by and use the listening device and leave fliers

I just spoke to my friend who is a groomer and part of a legitimate rescue. I told her about the effort to find Cookie. Here are some things she brought up--

Cookie may have been dropped off anywhere, not necessarily returned, so there 's still that hope of finding him in that area. Especially since he was neutered. No big profit in a neutered male.

It's time to go national. We need all of your help. Watch for ads in your states. I don't mean to upset Gen but the chances of Cookie still being in Florida get slimmer as time goes on if he was taken by professionals, especially if there was no ransom call.

Not all rescues are legit rescues. Some are hoarders and sellers looking for small dogs to make a buck. Do your best to check these. Find references.

Pay attention to ads that say 'Can't afford him any more' and ask for a price to re-home them. Report these ads to the local SPCA, they more than likely are for a stolen dog. Real people don't offer a dog because they're broke and then ask for money. I just saw one of these this morning in North Carolina Yorkshire Terrier For Sale : Oscar needs a good home.

There are several different types of chip makers/databases. If your vet chips your dog, make sure to register the chip otherwise you've just had it done for your own peace of mind. An unregistered chip is worthless.

If your dog was taken or lost, continue to pay for the coverage, even for a few years after it's gone. It's a very modest amount. If a new 'owner' re-chips a dog, an old chip will also be picked up by the scanner because they always check to make sure it's reading correctly. It might be yours, but if you drop coverage then the database entry will be dropped. Chips are just about impossible to remove and an old one will stay active.
