Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Leash trained? Years ago, I thought leashes were cruel, but I've made a 180 degree turnaround. So have my dogs. They enjoy walking on a leash as much as they enjoy running free. Here's a poll to see what everyone else thinks. It may take a second to load up after this post appears. I'm going to try to make it a two-parter to see how your dog likes it too.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Be sure to pick two choices, the second choice on how your dog likes it.

| We have leash laws so I have no choice but to use a leash. Even if there wasn't a law, I would definitely still use one since there is so much traffic in Chicago and Stewie enjoys running in the street at any opportunity he gets. I'd say that he likes the leash. It took some getting used to for him; when he was a puppy he would plant all four feet and just look at me and not move when I put it on him. He started walking decently on it at about 5 months old (about the same time it started warming up into Spring-like weather in Chicago; I think that had something to do with him being cooperative).

| We live in the country so we don't have to use a leash unless we are leaving the house. Sophie loves her leash because she knows it means she gets to go somewhere. If I just pick it up to put it away she freaks out she even tries to put her harness on herself. I will be trying to figure out how to get it on right and she will keep walking into it trying to get her head through. |

| Oops!! I voted before I read! I marked that she likes her leash ... shoulda also marked that she always wears it. Sorry! She hasn't always liked the leash .... when she was small & we put her harness on, she would flatten herself out and nothing we did could persuade her to stand! We had to hire a trainer to come to the house and he had her trotting around on her leash in one afternoon!! He was advertised as a "Dog Whisperer"!! Don't know what he "whispered" but it worked ... then he "trained" us!!

| I always ask Kacee if she wants to go for a walk. Silly question! She'll go running to the cabinet where her harness and leash are kept, jump up at it, and kind of make a funny barking/crying sort of sound (I don't know what you'd call it). She has a fenced yard, so she only wears it if we go outside it or go someplace. Does she like the leash? She knows it's a necessary evil!

| Trixie always wears the leash, with a harness. We had to get her on a regular colar for puppy training. She did not like that at all, but it did work. Now she's done with the training, she's back on her harness. |
