| Coming Out of the Closet!!! Hi everyone! Okay. Here it is, and I feel bad for waiting so long to tell everyone, but I got a new (to me) Yorkie this past June 1, 2009. I had only been a member for about 1 month, and I responded to the breeder who wanted to rehome a retired female. The entire time I was thinking this is too good to be true. But it was true and everything worked out fine and I am totally in love with this little girl, and she is doing great! My other two Yorkies came from the Humane Society, Peek a Boo is a failed show dog, well-trained, but had aggression issues and was prone to run away. I've had him since he was 5 1/2 years old and he'll be 13 this December. I adopted Tinkerbell on April 1, 2009, and, sadly, she has been diagnosed with Liver Shunt. She is not a candidate for surgery at this time, and is doing well, so far, on a protein restricted diet and medications. She has put on weight, not much, but enough that you can no longer see her spine and ribs. She came with a virus that Peek a Boo caught which developed into pneumonia, which almost killed him. He recovered, with prayers and medications, and is doing well. At times I felt overwhelmed with her alone. She was lacking social skills and was beginning to bite when overexcited, which she was most of the time. She has been taught that quiet time is good and hugs are fun and now she wants to be held alot, and her biting has just about stopped completely as she has learned to trust humans again. I am now a bit leary of dogs at the Humane Society, and won't adopt from there until I can absolutely quarantine them for at least a month. So Sapphire (aka: Fire Butt, Gnat-on-a-Leash, Elfin Queen, Pixie Dog, Who?Me?, etc.) came to live with us and it's working out well. We all go for walks twice a day, and the neighbors all just love her! I decided now to share her with you all, because the thread I found her in got dramatic and I was unsure of the responses I would get if I had posted then. But, now, I feel a bit more confident, I have some friends, and have gained valuable insight about all things Yorkie. And, no, I don't have photos yet. My camera is charging as I type. Check back tomorrow!

| I'm happy that it all worked out for you and for your new baby. It's sad that you were afraid to post about her, but I have seen some of those threads and it would make me scared too. Congratulations. |

| WOW my story is somewhat similar to yours. My little 2 1/2 year old Jada is a rehomed retired breeder also. I got her through my daughter in law(vet tech) from a breeder who uses the vet she works for. She had trouble with her pregnancy and had to have a c-section and so her breeder retired her. I feel so lucky to have her. I think it is great when you can give these older dogs a good home. She is my baby and I can't imagine our lives without her. I can't wait to see pics of your furbutts. Her little brother Bogie is a rehome from the same breeder. He was going to be her stud to her biewers and she wasn't happy with his markings or something, but we were so tickled to get him when he was just 9 mos old. We just wanted pets to love not show dogs.
