I wonder if she has enough sense to pass the class, since surely she doesn't have the sense to understand what your essay was about...good grief!!!! That is what I call SOS...stuck on stupid!

I know it is very frustrating, but you keep talking. Wen people hear it enough times and from enough people, they will start believing it themselves.

I do believe that many people just don't know how to go about getting a good dog or even the advantages of good breeding. And they probably figure a breeder will charge so much more.

Something to consider is the fact that not everyone would be approved by a good breeder to be fit enough to have one of their pupies!

The shelter I volunteer at it doing 2 peaceful demonstrations in the next few weeks at petstores. One is just opening in a high end mall, Northbrook Court in Northbrook, IL. Good for you, all you can do is try. Just makes you angry to think after they buy their high end clothes and hand bags they can buy that cute yorkie in the window. Maybe the shelter you volunteer at could help, show photos of some of the dogs they have BIG posters of them and set it up in the middle of the mall.

Yes we are doing a peaceful protest at the mall. I know it won't stop the store but hopefully it will stop some of the shoppers from buying a dog from them.

Unfortunately some people will still buy from pet stores even though they know the dogs come from puppymills. All we can do is keep spreading the word and getting the attention of those that will listen

As long as everyone keeps talking about it, there is a chance to stop them.

I really wish we could get into the grade school system because I believe it will only change when the next generation understands. We have had people here on YT go and buy from a petstore even after what they have read and been told here. A large majority of people think animals were placed on this earth just for them and puppies are product to make the people happy.


Patti - take pictures of the Amish dog kennels...and good for you as not enough people will step up and really try to change things. Actions speak louder than words.

I have seen a billboard similar to that in IL. The issue that I believe is that people do not think *there* pet shop sells puppymill puppies. What they do not understand is that ALL PET SHOPS sell puppymill puppies. If you bought from a pet shop you have a puppy mill dog. Period. End of story!

Rachel I have to say that you did toss this board into an uproar But I am glad that you have now seen the light. Which really is all that we were trying to do and say in the first place. We all live and learn and grow. I have to say that after all that was said back and forth you have come so far with your new found knowledge and I am proud of you. I read your posts now and can tell that you really do "get it" and as harsh as you thought we were being to you, truth be told it was just a lesson in reality. I can also see that you now know that really wasn't the case after all, once you opened up your mind and began to listen--really listen to what was being said. The more you know and the more that you grown I can see that you are evolving into a very good example of someone who came to YT and really learned and now is working for the cause. Good for you and keep it up!

Unfortunately, our petstore protest didn't work out. We never had enough people. That guy still in business.
I absolutely love the idea about billboards, and already contacted local billboard companies (either rescues from east coast). If I open my rescue, this will be probably the very first project I want to do. Located closed to the petstore we tried to shut.
