| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That's a little discouraging, I feel like if we can't even convince long time members of Yorkietalk that buying from a pet store is a bad idea, we will never have much of an effect on the general population. Its not because of health issues we are discouraging people from buying from a pet store, you have just as good a chance of getting as healthy puppy from a pet store as you would a back yard breeder, maybe even better. Do you understand why people don't want you to buy pets from pet stores? Or do you think the puppy mill problem is not that big of a deal? I would really like to understand, maybe we can educate better if we know why people still would do business with pet stores, after hearing so much about puppy mills.

				   | I was speaken about myself here, I only stated what I've done, yes, I purchased CoCoa B. from a pet store, and that is the truth. I'm not saying to others go and purchase a pet from a pet store in any way........I don't know any breeders from Maryland, thats where I'm from, so thats why I said I probably will purchase another pet from a pet store. I'm not saying its right, and yes I'm very aware of puppymills......I've learnt that from being a member on yt. Not by any means trying too cost an uproar on yt, I've was stating what I did.

				   | Did you buy your pup with any research done or was it more spur of the moment? Was cost a factor and how much were you willing to spend? Are you under the impression that if you went to a breeder you would spend more $$$. Have you referred to the YTCA breeder list? How far are you willing to drive? Have you looked at the picture of the puppy mill moms? Have you looked at the prisoners of greed website? Are you still not worried about where your dog came from? How much do you spend on the average for his healthcare? How old is he? I hope you don't mind answering my questions as it is the only way to help the future of these dogs.

				   | I figured that anyone after being on YT for even a little while would be totally against pet stores. Not only because they sell sick puppies and don't care where the puppies go, but because buying from petstores SUPPORTS puppymills. You are actually helping people treat animals cruely when you pay for a puppy thru a pet store. It's almost common sense to lok for a good breeder after you've read things on YT. It freaks me out that not even YT can change a person's attitude about this... ![]() (this is not directed at the OP)

				   | I have not read through any of the posts, just the OP's original post. I'm including a link to an article on the California Lemon Laws on puppies. This is where you will want to start, so that you can see what you are entitled to if anything. MOST states have some sort of protection for buyers of sick dogs but not all states. With that said let me say this; Your first mistake was buying from a pet store, but many including myself have bought from places we shouldn't have without knowing any better. I did myself 13 years ago and this is what prompted me to become educated and an advocate to shut down these places. Pet stores do not buy their pups from reputable breeders. First off a reputable breeder would never sell her puppies to a pet store and secondly, in order for a Pet Store to make money they need to get their stock (And this is what their pups are to them. Stock) from cheap places. MOST if not all buy from a Puppy Mill. Puppy Mills are MASS BREEDING FACTORIES in which they can be breeding upward of 1500 dogs or more in factory settings, meaning these dogs live their enitre lives in tiny cages and never see the light of day. The eat, poop and die in that cage never getting out. They receive little if any vet care, not enough food or water, no heat from the cold and no air from the heat. They live in barns or shacks if they are lucky with cage upon cage stacked and the poor guy on the bottom has all the pee and poop land on him or her. They have no contact with people and their pups are taken from then and shipped at the youngest age possible to that pet store. They do not care of the pup is sick, they will not pay the vet bills without a fight and they will not give you your money back without a fight. Some will exchange the sick pup for another, because it is cheaper to just let that pup die then to incurre the vet bills to make it better. They are disposable. There are many sites you can google to learn more about this. I hope your baby gets better. Check out the site I'm including to see if you have any recourse and PLEASE educate yourself about Pet Stores and Puppy Mills. Good Luck. Elaine California Lemon Laws for Dogs |

This is very interesting that you say that you do not know any breeders in Maryland because I distinctly remember you saying that your neighbor was a breeder. So I went back and looked and sure enough it's right here http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-cidney-b.htmlWhat ever happened to Cidney the puppy that you got from your neighbor who is a breeder? You never talk about him anymore. When I was looking for that information I also came across this too ![]() http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-question.html I am so confused Arzel......what happened to these 2 puppies that you had back in March 09? It i very upsetting to me after all of the preaching and posting that I have done that you would even consider purchasing another from a petshop. You said that there was a breeder that was your neighbor
