| Just bought a Yorkie. Hi all, Just got a yorkie for my daughter Wed. night and have an appointment at the Vet. Fri. morning. I was wondering, what type of examination should I have done for Yuko. How much should I expect to pay? Can I give him a bath? The breeder said to wait about 3 days. He kinda stink though. Thanks, Jeff |

| Welcome to YT I don't know about the bath, how old is Yuko? And how much a vet bill will be..... Well I'm upstate NY and a 1st vet visit would be about 150.00 + or -. Do you need to get booster shots? Heartworm test? Your vet will tell you. Good luck and we would love to see photos of Yuko I love the name!!

| On you your new baby Yuko. Each Vet even in the same area will have very different prices. We have about 6 vets within a 2 mile radius and when I was looking for a new vet when Cooper was little (we went to a Vet in our local town very cheap, but was very unhappy with him)....anyway I just called all 6 of them and told them I had a newer baby and wanted to know what they would charge for his exam/stool sample check/puppy shots and all of them gave me an "estimate". I could not believe the difference....some vet exams (just the exam/not anything else) varied from only $25 up to $55, and the shots were the same all over the chart. It is your money and your baby, I would not feel bad one bit calling in advance and just asking them the fees mentioned above.....of course when Yuko gets goes to his appt there might be other test/etc they want to do but this should give you a good idea what you are looking at. As mentioned when I got the different prices I did not choose the cheapest of the vets but one that was in the middle and actually did do the things I felt were important, but at least I felt in control of what we were headed for.

| Welcome CONGRATULATIONS!!! Welcome to Yorkie Talk!!!! Do you know how many vaccines he has had so far? He will probably need a vaccine when you take him in. My vet listens to heart, and lungs. She also feels around to make sure pup is healthy. All vets are so different about price. It just depends on your area. I wait to give mine a bath for a bit and let them get used to their new surroundings. That is just what I do. They adjust fairly quick. Your daughter will have such a great time with him!!!!

| Welcome to YT! As mentioned already, our first "puppy visit" was about $150, but that varies so much by location/vet/what's actually done. Good advise to call ahead! I too bought the Yorkie for my daughter. (guess who spoils it, and who it "shadows" all the time? Since we bring them to the vet, give them their bath, usually end up doing the brushing/feeding, etc, it quickly becomes "our puppy"! But, no complaints here! Good luck spoiling em! |

| Welcome to YT and congrats on your new addition. I can't imagine why you'd have to wait to give him a bath. Just so long as you make sure he has plenty of "downtime" afterwards. (These little ones get worn out very quickly.) |

| Fist off I want to say WELCOME to Yorkie talk... Second I wanna say, sounds like a great price for what you got at the vets... On my Nicky's first visist he was 22 weeks old, and he got his shots, the entire vet bill came to $58.50 I had to wait till both my boys were at least 3 monts old before they got their rabies. The shot cost me 18, but the whole bill came to $ 88.50 because he had to get some other shots as well. I love my vet, he is soo knowlegable about things, and he loves what he does.
