| Help!! Cats pottying everywhere & Sophie's eating it!!! Sophie learned to climb out of her xpen so we decided to let her stay out of it. We used two baby gates to set off the bedroom & the laundry room from her so that the 3 cats could have a place to hide (bedroom) and go potty (laundry room). Sophie only is able to be in the great room and the kitchen Everything was fine until about a week or so ago. The cats have started to use the bathroom everywhere but the litter boxes. They will poop all over the kitchen floor next to the door to the laundry room and they will pee all over the furniture. We've spent the last week cleaning the couch and chair inside and out due to this. And to top it all off, Sophie eats the poop and it gets all over!!!!!!!! I'm at a loss of what to do!! We've tried leaving 2 litter boxes where they normally are and putting one in the bedroom's bathroom so they could have access to it and she wouldn't be around. That didn't work. My only other solutions that I can think of are to try a top entry litter box for the cats and not block off the laundry room so that they don't have to jump over the gate OR to get a top for Sophie's xpen. I don't want to have to start putting her back in the xpen after she's been out for so long b/c she behaves better now, but I don't know if the other will work! Does anyone else have an suggestions? |

| I had to put a gate up so my yorkies can't get into the bathroom where the litter box is but my friend tried this litter box and it worked for her. It's called Booda Clean Step Litter Box. I had one dog it worked on but my other one figured it out. It has steps inside that the cat goes in so the dog has to go all the way into the box to get into it. You can research it online and see if maybe it would work for your dog. It's a pretty big litter box too but it does work for some people. Good luck, I know what a problem it can be. |

Ditto to this! We have two Boodas and we block off the bedroom with the regular covered litter box. Poppy hasn't yet figured out the how to climb up the stairs and get into the cat poop, but she definitely can get into the regular boxes and it's so gross! I dread the day she figures it out. We have three cats so usually have four litter boxes running for sanitary reasons (and picky cats!). | |

| Thanks for the replies. It seems like a good box and it looks like something my cats might use as opposed to the top entry box, but I don't know if it would solve my problem. I think Sophie would probably still get into it. Stairs fascinate her. We've got the regular boxes blocked off but part of the problem is that the cats have flat out all of a sudden stopped jumping over the gate to get to the box. So they go outside the gate on the kitchen floor and they pee on the furniture. I'm thinking it is stress and anxiety causing it. I thought about getting one of those plug in things that are supposed to calm them down, but I don't know if I want to spend what it costs in case it doesn't work. Has anyone had any experience with the plug in thingy? |
