| What temp for a sweater? What temp do you think is the lowest they can tolerate without a sweater? |

| I usually decide if Couver wears a sweater when we go out by if he shivers...I can tell if he is cold or not.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah I agree with this. I think it's hard to give a specific temperature, too many things factor in such as how much moisture is in the air, and if there's a breeze. Also, there is a good deal of variation between dogs. Joey gets cold easily, and he wears a sweater when AC is 74, but he can easily go outside in that temperature. I know I'd always have him wear something as it gets close to 60 degrees even if it was sunny. Yorkies don't have the double coat of hair like most breeds, and the double coat protects and insulates them in cool or hot weather. Joey's breeder said, "If you need a sweater, so does he."

| In the winter should they wear sweaters all the time, even in the house? |

| Jackson doesn't wear clothes generally speaking; he just doesn't seem to get that cold. He ran around outside in the snow "naked" last year for an hour and did just fine. I'll be buying him 1 or 2 cute hoodies for the Winter for MY sake () and in case he does happen to get cold. He WAS a little puppy last winter so maybe he just didn't care about the cold as a youngin'.

YT Addict | I put Derby in a sweater the minute I think I need one, but my husband won't. He'll be busting out jacket and dog boots only when there's actual snow on the ground. Little does he know when Derby is crying and whining because he's freezing (thanks to Dad giving him a buzz cut that's I've been trying to grow back because winter is coming!) he'll learn it's time. My husband is trying to toughen Derby up like "a man". I think it's hilarious. The poor guy is only 3 months old! He's just a baby and it's so sad to hear him cry and whine because he's freezing. I'm all for not treating him like a baby in a stroller, but give the guy a break. He's COLD! give him a sweater!!! God we're all wearing coats and sweaters, and he's got nothing... as if. We fight about it LOL Last edited by DerbyLayne; 10-03-2009 at 08:58 PM. |

| Joey's breeder said, "If you need a sweater, so does he." __________________ That gave me a chuckle because when I had my first baby I never knew how to dress him. My MIL, God rest her soul, always told me the samething. Buddy hates clothes and cover's over him. Drives me up the wall. I force a sweater on him when it get's around 45 where we live. Oh happy days ahead for me! |

| She will get use to it! Is the fleece itchy on her, maybe that is why she doesnt want to move...?
