| Please respond. I'm about to go crazy. Thanks for reading this. I am going nuts. I took Cohen to the kennel for the very first time a few weeks ago. I have always treated him for fleas and heartguard and we have NEVER had any problems. But after I brought him home from the kennel I noticed fleas on him the next day. I started freaking out because I remember when I was little my parents dog got fleas and it was a disaster!!!! So I immediately gave him his dose of frontline even though it wasn't needed for a few more days. I confined him to the hardwood area for 24 hours while I cleaned the entire apartment spic and span. 24 hours later I checked on him and he STILL had fleas!!! I thought maybe I accidently got too much in his hair and not enough on his skin so I gave him another dose. I went to the store and bought a flea comb and a flea bomb for the house. 24 hours later I brushed him out and it did seem like most everything was dead, so we left the house for awhile and set the flea bomb off. I thought everything way okay! A few days later, Cohen and I were cuddling and I saw a flea crawling across him. I got so upset, and wasn't about to put another dose of frontline on him, so I went to the store and got some flea shampoo and a flea collar (Hartz brand). I treated him with these. They seemed to work for a few days, but then yet again, I saw fleas on him later that week. My apartment complex even treats the lawn with pesticides that are supposed to kill bugs/fleas/ticks. I just do not know what to do!!!! I am so desperate. I am sorry for making you read all this, but I really am going crazy. I have now spent a ton of money and feeling like it is just getting worse. Yesterday I combed him with the flea comb for an hour and got all the adults and eggs out of him. Then just now I took him back outside and combed him again, and there were at least 100 eggs in him that weren't there yesterday!!! What is going on?!? Please, if there is anything, I mean anything, you can tell me that has worked for you if you have been in this situation I would appreciate it so much. I cannot stop crying, because I hate seeing him itching and I know it hurts him when I comb him! I'm so upset. It's not like I don't take care of him. I just have tried everything I know to do. Please. Thank you.

| Thanks. Where can you get K9 Advantix? And if I put it on, will the problem stop, or am I going to have to flea bomb the house again?

| I myself use frontline plus... and it works for me. BUT frontline top spot does NOTHING for my animals. do you know which one you used? I think I would ask my vet before I put another dose of chemical on him But my friend told me about this... and they said it works within 30 mins and its called capstar... you can get it at 1800 pet meds i know. Also I was reading where someone tried bathing them in dawn... there is a thread here about it. I would definitely ask the vet and see what he would suggest! Goodluck

The only things I can think of to try is to bathe him in Dawn dish soap. You get him wet, drench him in Dawn, then wrap him in a towel for 10 mins or so (so it will smother the fleas) and then rinse him. Unfortunately, Frontline has not been all that successful for us either this summer. Other than that, my only idea would be to do a flea dip. I think some grooming places do this as well. I remember seeing a place in Richmond or Berea earlier in the summer (when I was debating taking my babies somewhere but decided to just groom them on my own) that had a website and that did flea dips but I cannot find it for the life of me. Sorry... but I would do some calling b/c it could be cheaper than a vet (call vets, too!). Give Cohen a kiss from me.

| I so feel your pain!!! a few tips, vacume vacume vacume!!! Even the hardwood! You can buy a spray that kills fleas and will keep them away for a year, you put it on carpet, couches, curtins etc... Actually you have to treat the fleas in your house and on your dog as two seperate things. If there is anyway you can totally spray and clean your house and then stay somewhere else for a few nights that would be optimal... then the fleas would be dead. I would really take puppy to the vet to make sure he's ok and get the vets advice. I really hope you can get rid of them... |

| My vet recommends using dawn on DRY fur, rubbing it in the coat and letting it set for about five minutes then wet with warm water and lather and rinse. You are/have been using far too many chemicals on your dog. The Dawn doesn't prevent fleas but it kills what is on them. be sure to follow with a good conditioner. Do not buy the cheap Hartz stuff and all that. i don't know what size he is but I wouldn't use the collar on him either. Go to the vet and get the Advantage. They also have a spray at the vet that is for your carpetiong, beds and etc. You need to also spray down in the seams of your furniture. Wait until bedtime tho. Your dog does not need to be around all these chemicals. I'm sorry you are going thru this. We have too. We also treat our lawn but with all the rain we hae had, it doesn't do a lot of good. |

Yorkie Yakker | Fleas Hi, I don't know where you live but the fleas around Birmingham have been so bad that some schools closed while they were being bombed. I use advantage K9 and so far that has been working. I HATE FLEAS!!!! |

| Be very very very careful , you cant keep applying frontline and advantix on your puppy it has dangerous chemicals in it.. Try to wash him with some dawn dish soap.. Please dont keep applying that poison on his skin he could get very very sick!! You may have caused his skin to get irratated and that is probally what your seeing and NOT flea eggs..

| I really appreciate all the advice. I will definitely try dawn tomorrow and advantix in a few weeks. I know I've been putting too much stuff on him, I was really worried about it. Unfortunately the vet has been no help (that's actually where he got them from because they're a vet and a kennel--and they are supposed to be the best in richmond), they have just told me that the frontline is probably working, it's just that the fleas need to bite him to get into the frontline and die. But there is just no way it is working because they are multiplying like crazy. I don't think they sell advantix. This weekend I'm going home to visit my parents, and I think I'll talk to they're vet. Thanks again.

No, it's definitely flea eggs. My parents live out in the country and deal with fleas every once in awhile and so I've seen this before. His skin seems to be okay. The frontline that I applied was 3 weeks ago, and the shampoo/collar was a week ago so they had 2 weeks in between them.
