| Hoping to go on a vacation soon We are looking around to going on vacation in the next couple months. I am excited but dreading it at the same time. This time we would like to bring our daughter with us since last time she did not get to come. My mother watched her for the week we were gone and would of watched Stormy too but Stormy was at the vets during that time. We are looking at 5 days, which would be ideal for me but we may do 7 days. We are going to look at the costs and resorts. Well I am just at a loss as to what to do. I have not talked to my mom yet but I am sure she would watch Lola. The only thing is my mom has went back to school ( YAY FOR HER! ) She is gone to school from 9am til 3pm. She has her yorkie and a boxer. My mom doesn't crate them, they have free roam. I would not want to leave Lola unsupervised with them, because my moms yorkie is a bit of a bully and just likes to jump all over Lola, so who knows what would happen for that many hours. Secondly I don't know how she would do in a crate all that time. I don't want to board her at any facilities so my only other option is to leave her with someone. Well again I don't have very many friends and the ones I do trust have small children which I wouldn't want to leave her around once again since they are not used to small dogs and I can't be there to watch. We will probably be heading out of Detroit MI airport or Toronto ON. Is there anyone on here who does boarding or perhaps would be interested in possibly dog sitting? I would only be interested in a member who is well established on here who is in those areas. Nothing is set in stone yet but I would like to be prepared with some options when things start coming together. Thanks! |

| I would certainly take care of her if we were closer. I know how you feel about finding just the right environment. I wouldn't leave mine with a home that had bully or even large dogs, or small kids. Sounds like your safest bet would be to find a good Vet. who kennels and has a 24/7 staff. I would be very, very careful about leaving her with anyone that you have never even met.

| Does your mom live close enough to come visit your Yorky for a food, water and potty break in the morning before classes and after school or evening for a repeat performance? I have done this for a vacationing neighbor when they had a Yorky. They gave me a key to their home and I made sure she had food, water, exercise and love. My hubby would not allow indoor dogs at the time, so this method worked out for both of us. Their little dog would not eat much when her family was not around and they didn't want to leave her at the vets for this reason,(no 24/7 help). |

My mom goes to school about 5 mins away but I bet she would find it a hassle to have to do all that. I don't think she would be okay for 5-7 days alone with someone coming by. She is a very social dog and likes to have people around. She does okay being left alone a few hours but she only gets left alone a few hours per week. | |
