| Breeder suggestions in MN, WI or ND Hello! I have been looking over the forum for quite some time now and finally decided to join! I had a yorkie for about 15 blessed years and was devastated when he passed. Its been many years and I think I am ready for another one now. You guys really know your stuff here and I find the info I get here very valuable. I am wondering if any of you can give me some suggestion on breeders in MN, WI or ND? I am in the Twin Cities but will drive a few hours to get him (I say him because I want a male). Please either PM me on the forum or email at msp96302 at yahoo. Thanks! |

| First off welcome to YT. Sure hope you find your Yorkster kid so we can all hear all about him/her. You can google in Yorkie breeders then add the state. The only suggestion I have for you when you find a breeder is to go to their home to see if the conditions are good or not. Too many BYB who are only in it for the money and not the health of the dogs. Another thing you could do is call all the Vets. in your area to find out if they know of any Yorkie puppies that are available. A good breeder always takes the pg. mom then the puppies to a Vet.

| Thanks!! Yes, I have been looking quite diligently online and doing lots of searches. And yes, I would never consider buying without visiting the location first. Many of the sites that I find seem to breed many types of dogs and I am not sure I want to buy from them (sorry, but let me know if I am off base by that statement or not!). Having many, many different breeds of pups for sale at one time is a kind of a turn off for me. Further, I do a google search on the name, operation name and phone number of the contact as well. I definitly plan on executing a complete check. At present, there are only a handful of people that I plan on connecting with in MN and in Iowa. That is one reason I wanted to pose the question to the group - if there are any quality breeders, perhaps smaller operations, that might be tough to find just doing a basic google search, I'd like to know. Your idea regarding checking w/vets though is a very good one. I will do that for sure. |
