| Question for EXPERIENCED Yorkie lovers/owners! I have been sick at home for about 2 weeks now, so to fill my time I've been googling everything imaginable. So, in my googling frenzy, lol, I've found the huge comparison in the Silky Terriers and the Yorkshire's, and I can't really tell if my Yorkie is actually a Yorkie or not! He has alot of the characteristics of the Silky Terriers, but then again the characteristics seem so close. Here is a link to my Facebook Album full of pictures of my Yorkie named Thor. If you guys could look through the pictures of him and let me know if you think he is Yorkie or Silky that would be great! Thanks! The pictures range from 8 weeks old to his newest and current pictures where he is 7 months old. | Honestly, he could be either one! He looks mainly Yorkie to me but I can see where you would think he was a Silky. Yorkies are so widely bred that they come in all sizes/shapes/looks. Sometimes they closely resemble Silkies which I think comes from the fact that the two are such similar breeds. Either way, I think he is ADORABLE! He seems like such a loving dog.

| I can't help ya because I myself think Jackson may be mixed with Silky or an actual Silky. I tend to believe he's mixed. It's SO hard to say because nowadays with how many Yorkies are being bred not to "standard," Yorkies all look sooo different. Either way -- Thor is CUTE!

| Hey Hon, I cannot claim "expert" status but I am now the proud owner of my fourth Yorkie who is becoming a wonderful companion to my five year old male (the new pup is female). In viewing the photos and thinking back on the many, many Yorkies I have met, known and loved as well as the pictures I have viewed, I am willing to guess with a 95% belief that you have a Yorkie rather than a Silky. I base this on his face, the length of his snout and his expressions, as I am sure you have heard, Yorkies can wind up way out over the breed standard as far as weight goes, and we love them all the same (my girl is likely to be huge even though I know she is full-blooded) so weight isn't necessarily an indicator, it just means you don't have a show dog... Yep, I would say your gorgeous boy is Yorkie - the eyes have it in my opinion - of course that's all it is - my opinion, but he looks very happy and healthy and very well loved! Those are the things that matter! Yorkie love! |

| I'm gonna say he's got some silky in him: I'm not an expert but the snout and eye set to me look like there is some silky: Silky Terrier Information and Pictures, Sydney Terrier, Silky Terriers Australian Silky Terrier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia But again, with all the crosses and breeders out there, you never know. Do you have his pedigree? He's a cutie! |

| hi what makes you think silky? where did you get your pup from? do you have any papers indicating what breed/pedigree? looks yorkie to me since coloring, markings, skull to muzzle proportion, unless you have papers or a relationship with a reliable breeder, there is no way to be sure... Love Thor for who he is |
