| Is it too soon for another Yorkie? Hi I would like a playmate for Toby. Is is 6.5 months, is pretty well trained, though his housetraining has lapsed slightly the past few weeks but I think it is because his teeth are bothering him. Anyway, he loves other dogs, and I would love to get another puppy for him. I was thinking when he was about 9 months or so at the earliest, so that I could make sure he had no bad habits to pass to the new pup. Toby is a cryptorchid, so we will get him neutered at a year old, on the vets recommendation. I am undecided between and male and female but that is another story. His aunt has just had pups, 5 bitches, and they would be ready at end of November/start of December. I really dont know whether to enquire, or if Toby is too young, or whether to get another male - I am really undecided this time, but I do think there comes a stage when a dog gets too old to introduce another one into the house.

| My male was about 4 months old when I got our little girl, although they're 2 months apart in age. They are the very best of friends, but each has retained their capacity for human bonding, too. There's an old American commerical - perhaps you've seen it? - about potato chips: "Betcha can't eat just one!" Yorkies are like that . One is good, two is MUCH better, and I would imagine 3 or more would be just that much more merry . Go for it! Why wait? You *know* you're gonna do it anyway . |

| Bella Mia seems so much happier having someone (her pups) to play with that is her own size. I think it keeps them occupied a bit better than a bunch of toys. I am glad we are keeping one of the puppies so that she will still have the interaction with another Yorkie.

| I say go for it, since you know you are going to get another one eventually. ....Cooper is 2 yrs old and we are just now getting his full blooded sister in a few weeks and I am nervous because maybe I waited too long.....worried that I have been past the whole baby stuff for so long that it will be harder to start all over etc, where had I dont it when he was less than a year it would not have been such a big deal.
