Is it too soon for another Yorkie? Hi I would like a playmate for Toby. Is is 6.5 months, is pretty well trained, though his housetraining has lapsed slightly the past few weeks but I think it is because his teeth are bothering him. Anyway, he loves other dogs, and I would love to get another puppy for him. I was thinking when he was about 9 months or so at the earliest, so that I could make sure he had no bad habits to pass to the new pup. Toby is a cryptorchid, so we will get him neutered at a year old, on the vets recommendation. I am undecided between and male and female but that is another story. His aunt has just had pups, 5 bitches, and they would be ready at end of November/start of December. I really dont know whether to enquire, or if Toby is too young, or whether to get another male - I am really undecided this time, but I do think there comes a stage when a dog gets too old to introduce another one into the house. |
Dont ask me, my answer would be YES, get another baby! :D I have 3 that are 6 months and 5 months. They have so much fun together, I wouldnt have it any other way. |
My male was about 4 months old when I got our little girl, although they're 2 months apart in age. They are the very best of friends, but each has retained their capacity for human bonding, too. There's an old American commerical - perhaps you've seen it? - about potato chips: "Betcha can't eat just one!" Yorkies are like that :). One is good, two is MUCH better, and I would imagine 3 or more would be just that much more merry :D. Go for it! Why wait? You *know* you're gonna do it anyway ;). |
I got mine all 4-6 weeks apart. But in the end, pretty funny there birthdays are all within 2 weeks of each other. :D |
I say go for it! My males get along great. My males and females get along great also. If your having him nuetered it really wouldn't matter. |
You go for it. I just love my little Yappers |

Bella Mia seems so much happier having someone (her pups) to play with that is her own size. I think it keeps them occupied a bit better than a bunch of toys. I am glad we are keeping one of the puppies so that she will still have the interaction with another Yorkie. |
I would!!!! ace is 9 months old and i just got two babies!!!! My girl is Sookie and my boy is Godric!:D |
I say go for it, since you know you are going to get another one eventually. ....Cooper is 2 yrs old and we are just now getting his full blooded sister in a few weeks and I am nervous because maybe I waited too long.....worried that I have been past the whole baby stuff for so long that it will be harder to start all over etc, where had I dont it when he was less than a year it would not have been such a big deal. |
Alfie was 8 months old when we got Rosie and they just love to play together. They have each other to amuse each other when were busy. Alfie even runs to fetch Rosie when she gets too far ahead. |
I'd say go for it....I'd love another. :thumbup::thumbup: |
:thumbup: I would say go for it too! But what can I say, I have 5, and wouldn't have it any other way. I have a them from 1 year-8months old to 10 years old. Love them all. |
;)Never too soon, or too late!:) |
