I am not sure how one goes about letting the yorkie community know of something like a little memoir of a yorkie.....but here goes. My husband and I returned from a year in France with "Pennie". My husband is a historian who was on sabbatical writing a book about an Alabama Presbyterian minister who served in WWII. We had never had a yorkie before and of course the joy she has brought has been overwhelming. Our 17 year old dog died a few months before we left for France so we decided to get Pennie while we were there. I do not have illusions of being a great writer but I decided to write about Pennie's emigration from France to the US with lots of photos. It is dedicated to the children we met in France and to our extended children family back home in Alabama and the US. PS: I viewed it and I will buy a copy because it looks interesting to me for sure. I love France and French living, and will enjoy reading your story. Also you DO have a lot of good pictures in it.

thank you so much. Pennie made our stay in France so much easier. Everyone loves dogs there and they like yorkies in particular.

It is so easy to write about Pennie's adventures because everywhere she goes, people engage with her. She is a great national representative of both France and the US!!

Welcome to YT and I hope you will enjoy yourself here. Your book looks wonderful and I would love to also read your husbands. YOu certainly had a wonderful life in France and what a special little one you got to bring home.

I am real curious on your thoughts of why in most European cities it is okay to take your pet into many establishments including restaurants and not here in the states. When I traveled Europe (I was a travel agent for 12 years) I did not see many mutts there and in some countries they are not allowed to neuter their animals. I find this interesting.

Last night, I saw a TV show talking about the food standards in French restaurants in particular, and thought just as you, how in spite of this, dogs of all sizes today are allowed in restaurants (below the table for the most part) but nevertheless allowed inside. We also saw dogs, not many, going into grocery stores as long as they were sitting quietly in the basket. Dogs went everywhere...on the trains, buses, etc. The only problem we had was on tours. They did not like any animals on the tour buses and I can understand that because you often cannot hear well and any little bark (like Pennie's) is a distraction. I just think the French are very disciplined about not taking a disruptive animal into public places and they are fastidious about using the potty bags in parks and on streets. Probably it is our propensity for suing people for a variety of things that perhaps shouldn't be allowed in the legal system. The French just don't do that.

My husband is trying to settle on a publisher as we speak. We had the most wonderful year tracking the diary of the minister throughout the war. We met the kindest people, the fiercest living Resistance members, and French people who loved and still love Americans for what they did in WWII. I cried many tears listening to their stories.

My husband has not settled on the name of the book yet....so....if you will email me at 2689@bellsouth.net, I will let you know when it gets its final name and roughly when it will be published. It is a fascinating true story. I ask you to email me because sometimes I am not sure if what I am doing on communications like these always go through to intended recipients.....I am computer savvy but not an expert. I don't do Facebook or blogs (at least I don't think this is a blog!)
