| Squatting over and over??? Hi everyone, I am new to the boards. I have always referenced these when I had questions and you are all so knowledgeable and helpful! So thank you! But I couldn't find anything about my current question so I thought I'd quit lurking and post myself! I have a 6 month old Yorkie named Zucchini. She hasn't been spayed yet because we are about to move and hate our current vet so we are waiting until October, when we can find a new one. I mention this because it might be related to our problem. The last couple days she has been squatting like she is peeing all over the yard, over and over, like she is marking her territory. We thought it was cute at first, but after some research, I'm thinking maybe it is an infection or some sort of issue. She isn't really acting any differently, but she hasn't eaten much today. Does anyone have any experience with this or know what is going on? Thanks so much in advance! |

| Welcome to YT. Some females do mark and it may look like that, but that doesn't rule out a blader problem. I would have her urine checked.

| Have you changed anything in her diet? Is she constipated? I would stay on the safe side and have her checked for a UTI at the vets office.

| We haven't changed her diet and she has almost had a bit of diarrhea yesterday and today. |

| What are the symptoms of a UTI other than the squatting, have any of your pups had one? I'm from KY too, Ashland! : ) I live in Chicago now, but am moving to Louisville in October! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Oct is a long wait if it is a UTI & may be painful as well. It will just get worse if you wait. I'd go to a different vet to find out & treat if needed. She'll have enough to deal with moving just like you. If you think there might be a digestive problem, you can give her some plain canned pumpkin (not the kind with pie spices) to eat. It can help a lot if they are loose or constipated. I would probably give her the pumpkin as well as going to the vet.

I love her name - and don't have advise except to agree about a possible UTI - I really haven't heard of a yorkie doing this over and over unless it's a male yorkie Good luck | |

| May I suggest that you take her temperature and see if it's high. I would also suggest that you get her into the vet and see if it is an UTI. If you're not planning on breeding, I would go ahead and set up an appointment to get her spayed before she does have her first heat.

| My 3 year old is a marking female. Does she squat in the smae spots? If so, it is marking. If she squats all over the place in random order, take her to the vet. That would be my rule of thumb. Good luck and yes I LOVE the name!
