| I'm so sorry to hear about this! I haven't read all of the posts so someone else might have said this aleady but I'm going to say it again . Before you give up on your baby why don't you try and find someone that could take her for a few months. Clean the house and see if it makes a difference. It's always possible that you could both be allergic to something else allergies can come and go pretty much whenever they feel like it. It's odd that you both are having the same attacks, especially when he's at school. He should be better at school because the dog isn't around not feeling worse. I hope you can figure something out my toughts are with you and your family.

| I am at work. I have a reputation for being a salty old broad. Foul mouthed, been in this business a long time, nothing ever gets to me, and I've pretty much seen it all. Seriously. Nothing. Hard as nails, I am....LOL So, when my shift commander walks in and sees me sitting here and a tear or two is rolling down my face needless to say there is shock, concern and now all the guys in the department are tiptoeing around whispering, thinking I've gone over the edge. At this point it has reached the point of comical. I haven't the cojones to tell them this is over a tiny puppy and a wee family of four in the land of Kentucky, none of which I've ever met, nor am likely to ever meet. I do have a reputation to maintain...LOL Perhaps I'll tell them I heard that Chuck Norris broke a nail. Meanwhile, have a lovely trip, an even lovelier meeting with the ""in-laws"" and blessing to your new '''blended''' family.

| Thank you for posting and I wish it would've worked out to do this, allergies are a crazy thing especially if they are severe its sometimes impossible to know everything a person can be allergic too but we tried someone watching Karlee and did everything we possibly could and found no relief once we were around our little furbaby the reactions started right back up again. Not sure if you had a chance to read all the postings but the day my son had his reaction at school he had complained here at home of itching (the type of hives we have is called acute and it usually starts welps once any area is scratched but also can have blotches and throat swelling too) it usually takes a bit anywhere from 5 mins to an hr sometimes before it can be onset but that morning my son held Karlee and he complained of itching he left to get on the bus and as soon as the bus got to school they took him straight to the school office to see the nurse so the reaction happened while he was on the bus. Then we also had a ER trip with him that was what really hit us hard the scare of him not being able to breath or to be asleep and have his throat swell together that was when I knew it was serious and we had to figure something out and we tried to let someone care for Karlee but once we were around her again the reactions started up again. My son saw his allergy specialist and is on medicine too for it all this started up within a week of having Karlee and began to get worse. I wish I could solve the puzzle to why but the allergy specialist told us sometimes with the severeness of my sons allergies and mine any housepet could break us out even rare cases of the Yorkie breed is possible. Its heartbreaking but I know Karlee will have a wonderful family to love her and she will get the love and care she would with us. Thanks for your posting I do appreciate it and if the throat swelling would not have been part of our hives I would've kept our little Karlee but in this situation I feel in my heart its meant this way. I know Karlee will always be in our hearts though. Thank you so much and just keep us in prayers I know God will help us through this and I am going to always cherish our memories with Karlee and I have to be happy that she is going to a good family. Take care! Quote:

| HAve you thought of getting someone else to take care of her for a few months? I read in another post of someone being allergic to her yorkie. She said her breeder recommmended giving her away temporarily because some people are allergic to the puppy's dander. When he grows and the fine hair comes in, they're saying the allergies could get better. Just a thought... |

| May God bless you and your family. I know it is very hard, but I feel you picked a very good person/family to raise your little girl. Karlee will be fine. My thoughts and prayers are with you, may God mend your broken heart and give you peace!

| I believe that Star's family is dealing with allergy issues far more serious than 'puppy dander'. They have come to terms with their situation and have made and are already acting on a painful but necessary decision. They are handling it far better than I would have...

starr728 I have been following this situation but have not posted because...well, I didn't know what to say. I want you and your family to know that I am thinking of you and your family and praying you receive the comfort you need during this time. I want to also commend you on making such a tough decision., but it sounds like the right one. You are an amazing family and I send you hugs! I am just so glad you have found a family for your precious pup AND you will still be able to be part of her life...with no risk to the rest of the family. | |

| This is such a bitter-sweet thread. I'm so sad for your family, but, I think you know you've made the best decision in an unthinkable situation. I only hope that I can be as brave as you if I'm ever in a similar spot. As another poster said......no one is allergic to pictures, so I hope you get to see little Karlee grow up to be the special little princess that she is. I will be thinking of you and your family tonight when Karlee goes to her new family. God bless you!
