| two puppies at the same time!!?? So I got rascal (5 months) 6 weeks ago and hes had really bad separation anxiety he barks in his crate and or ex pen for as long as were not home. Hes been getting out of his ex pen and I don't know how (will set up camera soon) So we tried many things as far as him being alone (tv, radio, Kong with treats yogurt ,peanut butter, bully sticks, training etc.) Nothing has worked. So our next option was getting another friend. We got a girl that is the same age and we will be getting her on Friday. So I'm a little nervous and i do not know what to expect as far as them getting along and him getting better as far as his separation anxiety. My family thinks I'm crazy because now it will be double trouble..lol Is there anyone out there that has had a similar experience or any suggestions? Last edited by Carlene; 09-02-2009 at 11:03 AM. |

| I am a firm believer in 2. I have always had 2. When I lost my male this winter, I waited a couple months and then got Isabel a companion. She is 7 yrs and the pup is just 13 months, so it took her a while to adjust, but they play together now. Moses, the new puppy, clings to me so strong when I am home, I can't imagine how he would do alone. Having them together eases both their anxiety issues. Oh and my vet suggested a male puppy for Isabel; she is and always has been the dominant one |

| There can be many causes & cures for the behavior problems you are having, and I can't help you with that cause I've never had that with any of mine. But, what I do want to say is personally I LOVE LOVE LOVE having 2 pups at a time, and don't feel they are double the trouble at all. If anything it is much less trouble and double the fun. I have 2 Morkie sisters that are now 4½ months old and pure joy. I also have 1 yr. old Yorkie & Morkie girls, best buddies, and all together make a wonderful pack! Be prepared for the initial adjustment period as you add a new one, and come here for advice if you need it. Sometimes it isn't "love at first sight" but with guidance hopefully they will be buddies. Good luck.

| I wouldn't be comfortable putting two pups in an x-pen together, & leaving them alone. If you put them in separate pens your problem will not be solved.

| She's here So she (Honey) came home last night and Rascal cannot stand her . I m sure its temporary until he gets use to her. She is so sweet but I feel bad that Rascal is such a little brat he has been sleeping with my hubby and I but we cant fit both of them now on the bed so shes been staying in the crate next to us. She doesn't cry or anything so I guess that's good. Honey has been trying to get Rascal to play but he doesn't want any part in her playtime. I also noticed that Rascal isn't being himself as far as being happy and playing with is toys hes been reserved and observant. When im touching her or if she gets real close to me Rascal comes over and growls and barks at her(its kinda funny but mean at the same time) obviously hes jealous and is trying to warn her that I'm his and his only...lol |

I'd avoid giving her sole attention when he is present. Give at least equal or more attention to him. For example, if you pet her, pet him at the same time. If you give a treat, give them each one at the same time.

| it took bianca about 1 week to come around to candy,, we have her about 6 weeks now and last night is the first time they crated together, no misshaps we started off by putting them together while we were in the house for about half hour each time to make sure there was no bullying and put in all new bedding. but i would wait until your other dog accepts her totaly as as his play pal good luck
