She's getting older and shes a bit overweight and starting to have her hip bug her. It is so sad, I don't know what I will do when her time comes

I just went through so much in the last 8 months or so with my baby, I just thought things were starting to look up for her and then she passed I almost feel like she was hiding everything just to be happy and home, when she was at the vets for those few weeks she was always so depressed in her cage and the vet said she would not bond with anyone. She went CRAZY when I came to pick her up she was whinning so bad and jumping all over the car. That day she was a totally different dog, it was like thank you for taking me home I promise I'll be the best dog ever. She used to get days where she would lay and be mopy and I could never figure out what was wrong with her. I didn't come on here with every single problem I had because I am sure people were sick of me posting. But really it was one thing after another. At least though those last three months she was good and had the best darn months she ever had I bet.

Those are a few of my fav pictures of her
what a little cutie she was...hopefully dogs go to heaven for real and we can go there to see them again....!!!

Thanks, I can't believe that is where she was born and came from, that is just horrible to see. I knew they were puppymillers but I didn't know that they were that into it.

There is another, let me find it. If I can.
YUCK! How does a name get on this list. I just saw someone's name on the list that I went and looked at their pups. I just had a bad feeling and did not call or go back. So glad I listened to my inner voice.

They applied for the license through USDA...the United States Dept of Agriculture. Commerical breeders who want to sell to pet stores must be licensed.

Please explain to me why you are just now wanting to know about where your dog came from? Are you trying to find out her past? I am not being rude, please dont take this wrong, I'm just confused. Are you morning Stormy? If so I can understand. Most people find out all this info prior to purchasing a dog.

I didn't have the privilege of finding out where she came from before buying her. I already said that she was a rehome. The lady I got her from didn't say she bought her from a puppymill. She told me she was a breeder for 25 years breeding yorkies and boxers. She said she lived in Missouri but was visiting family in Michigan which is where I went, to her families home. Having NO knowledge about puppymills, bad breeders or any of the info I know now I believed what she told me until I got home and things started happening, I finally learned that she bought her as a pup from some breeders, after doing some research I found out they were a puppymill.
Now like I mentioned I am MOURNING my baby and just felt like finding out what I could for the heck of it because I have nothing better to do. I hope that explains it well enough for you. People grieve in different ways and maybe you or no one else may understand, I thought I could come here and see if anyone could find anything out for me that I haven't found out or that I missed.

I don't see how a dog who is prone to seizures shouldn't be allowed around certain dogs, that doesn't make sense unless you mean perhaps another dog could scare a dog into a seizure. I don't know if she was prone to them, I just said she had had a few in the past and was fine for a while therefore it had slipped my mind as a possible reason for her death. No I can't blame ALL of her issues on the breeder but most like her LP and seizures obviously were the breeders fault as well as her having issues with her eyes may of been genetic too. Who knows what else may of been an issue. If she was from a puppymill which she was, she wasn't bred properly is what I am saying.
If Stormy's was shaken by your larger dog you most likely would not be able to "SEE" a broken neck. As we all know there the vertebrates in your neck also control the brains function. If the vertebra was damaged high enough up with would have cause her ability to breath to cease. These bones are very small and delicate so you would not be able to see or feel something sticking out of a neck. Let me remind you that I had Teagan as a temporary foster pup~he is the little 2 months old puppy that was stepped on by a Mastiff. Teagan was not able to walk because he had a compression to the T3 & T4 vertebrate in his spine and also a severed ligament at the T1 and T2 vertebrates. The severed ligament was not visible on Xray and was only found once he had his surgery. So your theory that you would have been able to see or feel damage does not hold. All of that aside, Stormy is gone and there is nothing you can accomplish by agonizing over cause of death. Whether it was poor breeding and a seizure or that that he died from something that your puppy might have done needs to be put behind you now. I agree that you need to mourn the her passing but you also need to take all of this as a lesson and grow with it. It's important is that you keep your new little pup save, you have learned your lessons regarding puppy mills and poor breeding and you will continue to promote what you have learned from this very sad story and the life of Stormy.

I'm glad you explained and yes people grieve or mourn at different times. I think this is a very discusting place your dog came from and I too wish they could all be shut down but that wont happen in our lifetime...

I know we will never really know what happen, and I am okay with that, I can think of all the ideas I want but I was never there to wittness what happen and I never will be able to know 100% for sure, but I do believe that this was NOT an agressive killing. She has never been agressive with a dog especially not with Stormy. She did want to play with her but never attack her. Alot of dogs, bigger dogs that met Stormy had a "sense" of something not right with her and were always very gentle around here.

No problem, I hope it didn't come off snotty, I was not intending it to be at all. I guess I just find comfort some how in finding out about the place. Maybe it's too late for her but I'd love to help other dogs and help stop this.

Big dogs can very easily injure a smaller dog unintentionally. I personally would never leave them alone unsupervised. I've just heard too many sad stories.

My Bogey was very gentle with Teagan and would lay next to him and just look at him with sad eyes. But DBugs is a snot and sometimes will bother Truman who is old and blind. What happened to Teagan was not vicious but he was a tiny puppy and was stepped on by a 100 + lb dog causing a spinal injury. Just because "a lot" of dog "sensed" something was wrong and were gentle it is the laws of nature to attack the sick and injured because they slow the pack/herd. I'm not saying that Stormy was attacked but just trying to explain to you how a broken or injured spine can cause injury and death. You did state that you didn't see any injure and that you felt that if Stormy had a broken neck it would have been visible after her death.

Truth be told, you will never know what happened to Stormy. You now know that Stormy was from a puppy mill and that some of the health issues that she had were from poor breeding.
