| Urgent!!!!! 2 young females fighting!! Help I have 2 females yorkies Samantha 10 1/2 pds 18 months (spayed, ) and Tootsie 4 1/2 pds and 16 months(unspayed). These girls have always been the best of friends now all of a sudden they are staring each other down and then one of them gets angry and then we have to separate them..... Help please suggestions..... How do we stop this it just started happening 2 weeks ago. I always put Toots up in crate to try to difuse as she is youngest and smallest. I realize it is a dominance issue. These yorkies are not the only dogs I also have 2 pompoos that never get involved with this but I do not want them to either!!! HELP!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!

| I would guess the unspayed one is getting ready to come into heat. A couple of weeks before a female comes into heat at my house, the fights between the girls usually start. The only way to stop it is to have her spayed and it's possible that they may not like each other for life. Things may settle down after her heat is past but will flare up again with her next heat. I have not had a lot of luck with this because I don't have a kennel or keep my dogs in cages. I'll be interested to see what others say. |

| My girl does the same thing when she is coming into heat. The other dogs seem to know she is just ornery and usually give her a wide berth. I don't take her out, and request that my friends and family do not bring their dogs over until she is through.

| in a pack there is always an alpha female; since samantha is older she thinks she's the alpha;however since tootsie is unspayed she feels that she should be the alpha; thus they will fight over it; if tootsie is left unspayed it could get worst; also it's best to spay her for her own health; unspayed femaled, if not planed to carry babies then will develop uterian and overian cancer

| A little nervous about getting toots spayed.... Didnot find out till after samanthas spay that he just puts them under with shot not gas!! With little dogs does this not create more risk? How do I difuse this am I doing right by putting Toots up? Or should I put her on her back when she is being Bitchy? To show her dominance? ????????? thanks

| when you see her acting up; put her on her back and put one of your arm on her belly holding her down; so you can show her who's boss; you are the alpha and that they should be followers

| I did not know this either. My vet explained it to me, that having 2 females in the home is difficult because they will fight . Because they are trying to establish dominice. The vet told me it is easier to bring a male in the home with a female, however, my female was not spayed either. So I also have to spay too.

| my dog was about 4 lbs when she got spayed; and the vet did giver her injection to put her under anethesia; everything was fine; they will do a blood test firs to see if everything is okay before they do the surgery; it's a routine surgery, you shouldn't be worried. it's better for her in the long run; she will keep getting pms and will bleed once every few months (she will get her period); i know my friend had to spay her dog because she started to bite her and whoever came over; she had bad pms and was always angry and growling.

| I am very sorry for your situation. It is heartbreaking . Chattie came first and about 7 months later Chizzie came. They were best of friends until Chizzie went through her first heat cycle. The fights started and now we live in a "gated community". The girls are separated by baby gates 24/7. |
