| Hair Dryer Maddie doesn't mind the bath part, it's the after that she hates. Right now I am just using my hairdryer on low but it seems to take forever. Are the dryers that they use at the groomers different? I am willing to drop $100 or $200 on a dryer that will make her more comfortable and also take the dread out of bath time, but I don't want to spend that much on something I know nothing about. I'm also planning on growing out her coat so it is even more important for me to get something that works fast and efficiently. Any suggestions? |

| I bought this one: PetEdge: Andis QuietAire Ionic/Ceramic Pet Dryer It is a LOT quieter than my own hair dryer and I think the dogs tolerate it much better. The stand is very handy so you can let it stay put, use one hand to brush, and one hand to secure your dog. It is on sale and quiet a deal at only $20.96. I think I paid twice that at Petsmart. But you do need to place an order for over $60 with Petedge to make it worthwhile. Otherwise you have to pay a surcharge as it is mainly a company that sells wholesale to dealers. But it iseasy to come up with a $60 order. They have the more professional style dryers too. For mine though, I think it is the noise that scares them, so this quiet one was just right.

| I just ordered a laube magnum dryer. I read a lot of good reviews on it at groomer's BBS. It's suppose to be very quiet and a very good choice for the money. I should have it in the mail soon. I have a mini poodle and a yorkie so for me it's worth the $240. Laube Magnum Dryer (includes hose & nozzles) I had a small shop vac blower. Those are inexpensive if you shop around ($50 or less), very powerful even the small ones but very noisy. I couldn't do a good job with it on my poodle so I ordered the laube. If you go with the shop vac make sure you don't vacuum any dirt and use it as a blower after. The dirt might come out at high velocity and hurt your dog.

But it depends on what you want it for. If you don't mind the time it takes and your more worried about the noise scaring your pup then it might be good for you.

| If you want speed, get a forced air dryer. I got a portable one from Pet Edge for $89. It's louder than a freaking jet engine, but they are dry in 5 minutes. I have a good blow dryer because I have thick hair, but it takes longer because I have to use the warm or cool setting on them so the water doesn't evaporate as fast. The forced air dryer is loud and they hate it but it gets them dry FAST and you can put it right up to the skin because it's cool air. |

| I've also been known to wait until the hottest day of the week and then walk them around the block to dry them LOL It gives them a nice break from the blow dryer in the summer. |

I know the one I listed is not near as good as the pro models, but Pet Edge has those too. Still, for $20, not much to lose if anyone else is just looking for a quiet one.

| I use my own dryer but it is quiet. I can't stand the loud noise that other dryers make. All my furkids come running towards me when I have hairdryer in hand after a bath. They like it on high, when its on low they nudge me like "hey where's the warmth mommy". LOL |

| l've tried a force drier before at my nieces one weekend granted as the prior posts states you get the fast drying, but the noise is awful. You want to make the bath time enjoyable not a nightmare from hell. Rockie hated it. So l would not reccommend it for the pups that don't like noise. My nieces dogs were so afraid of it too. The regular dreir takes longer but its what l use for his comfort.

| I use my own hair dryer on them. It is a Conair Ultra Quiet- it works fairly fast, is quiet, and they dont mind it at all.

I have the same one - very quiet and my little ones are now very cooperative with blow-drying except on their faces- those I always let them airdry.
