| Haircuts Does anyone cut there yorkie's hair themselves? I used to have a s**t zu and I cut his hair myself. I took Molly to the groomer the first time, but I cut it myself today. I think I did a pretty good job! The only thing is I think I messed up a little between the eyes w/the "visor" cut. I cut it very short above the eyes. I think she looks good over all. I will try to figure out how to post a picture! |

| Missy hasn't had her first groom yet even though she's almost 11 months! I plan on attempting to do it myself. Hopefully it works out OK because I'm too scared to take her to a groomer. Can't wait to see pics of the job you did.

| This is the after picture, the before is my avitar. Can't really see the body, but it is cut short, like about 1 inch. Saved me $40! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...?dl=1249585284 |

| I have been grooming Cash myself for about a year. I mostly just do a sanitary cut, cut the ears and feet, etc. but his hair has grown a lot now and I have to cut it soon. I have no idea what I am going to do or how I am going to cut it, but I will do a bit more research nearer to the time. I am also planning on giving June her first groom soon - she is almost 6 months, can you believe it? Once again, I have no idea what I am going to do, but I have some time Now please post some pictures so that I may find inspiration from your genius!

| How do u post pics in messages? I tried and it said my files were too big. I copied one and pasted it and it said message had to be approved by a moderator before it would be posted, sigh. I was able to upload them into an album under my name though! |

| I groom Joshie myself right now (sanitary cut), because I am trying to grow his coat long. I prefer to take him to the groomers for a haircut, but sometimes I do it myself to save money. My dogs had some good and bad haircuts from me. When my dogs got a bad haircut, I tried to disguise it with a cool outfit or collar. I try my best not to feel bad about the bad haircuts, because I am not a profession groomer. Like Marilize, I use pictures off the internet as inspiration or guide on how I will cut my dogs' hair. I saw your dog in your photo album, and she looks beautiful. The haircut looks very professional. Good Job! Last edited by JoshieBoy; 08-06-2009 at 11:35 AM. |

| I just did my 3 this past weekend. It can get expensive with 3. It has been so hot here so they really needed a shave down. I won't take them to the groomer ever again after they cut Coco's ear. They look fine. I do it mostly with an electric razor, then I trim up the tough spots with the scissors. Then they get baths. I takes about 1 1/2 hours. I shaved them down in the end of May and they needed another one now. As it gets cooler I wait it out a while and just trim the feet and the face with scissors.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I do all 3 of mine as it is too expensive to take to a groomers and I really don't like leaving them with someone. I figure it is only hair and will grow back if is mess up a bit. You did a great job. With Pixie i cut her visor short so it is spikey and I like that look on her.

| What does everyone use to groom thier babies? I am getting a second boy, so I would really like to learn how to cut thier hair, so I don't have 2 grooming bills. Some places have the same type clippers, like the ones I use to cut my husband's hair, and some have others... so I am very confused as the difference.. I found some scissors on EBay, so I think I have that covered... thanks for the input! Great thread, and btw, Molly, I think you did a great job! Sara |

| I'm really at the point that I'm willing to attempt to groom Rockie myself. A month ago my groomer called to say he's not doing cottony hair dogs anymore; he said it takes to long. The moble groomer l tried out was terrible
