Default Actually, there aren't several breeds to one breeder....

This is not a loving "home breeder". My strong suspicion is that they are running a puppymill, if not, it's still a large scale operation.

If the OP would quit defending this breeder, I don't think that everyone would be getting so worked up. There are many YT-ers who have bought their puppies from petstores, puppymills, and byb because they didn't know any better at the time. I know that YT has helped me to learn how to find a good breeder, and I will never support an irresponsible breeder again.

Rachel, why not just admit that you know where you are getting Sadie from isn't the best place, but you love her already and you are buying her regardless. Just be honest I think YT-ers just keep re-hashing this argument because you are posting nice things about a breeder that doesn't appear to be that great. It's like false advertising.

Hang in there...I know that you're probably about ready to *burst* with excitement. Make sure to post lots of pics when she comes home please!

Thanks for ending in kindness, i just wanted to make one thing clear on your statement, the website for this kennel lists several types of dogs here because there are actually TWO different families that are breeding dogs using the same website. I know there are still several breeds for only two breeders to have, but you will notice that there are Linda's puppies, and also Suzanne's puppies and that there are two family numbers and emails listed. Linda and Marvin only have yorkies, a few morkies (SOMETIMES) and maltese. in the future, when they aren't having yorkie/maltese pups going, they may switch to the goldendoodles for awhile, and sometimes they have bolognese around. this isn't all the time, and they don't have that many pregnant dogs all in the house at once, the website i agree can be misleading and cause concern, but they really don't have tons of litters of many breeds of puppies just laying around everywhere. haha, they have a couple litters of one breed, then rest those parents and switch to another breed awhile...

not as bad as you make it all sound when you know a little bit more of the facts and you understand that there are two families with FOUR people who breed these dogs and use the same website.

thanks

Ahhh, IC....I still don't agree with some of their breeding practices, but that's neither here nor there. Really, who am I to judge? I'm not even a breeder.

What we all need to focus on now is your little furry bundle of love that will be coming home on Friday. I do have to say that I'm glad you stuck around despite getting frustrated with YT-ers voicing their strong opinions. I got Missy at 7 weeks 3 days of age, and I truly believed that YT and it's wealth of knowledge saved my little girls life. As opinionated as we can be, we are also very helpful here at YT. It's all for the love of Yorkies.

I hate to sound repetitive but the 4 hour drive would be an investment for you. You see with your own eyes the condition of the breeders setup. They can tell you the place is glorious, yet it is not. I went to a breeders home and they would not even let me see the mom & dad. I walked away. If the conditions of the facility are not up to par, then the dog is not going to be a healthy dog.
The people on YT are trying to spare you heartache and cost at the vets.

About a month ago Lexie came down with something, she was vomitting and had diarrhea... there is NO waiting until I can get off work, it is take her to the vet now, because she could get dehydrated fast since she is small. That vet visit was close to $500., bloodwork, etc.!! Luckily with meds she is fine now. The cost at the vet can be painful to the pocket.

During this time that you are waiting for your baby to get home, read, read, read all you can about illness, liver shunt, luxating patella, pancreatitis, potty training, vaccines, etc. Have a savings account for the yorkie or a credit card just for her or a pet plan.

I hope for your sake the puppy will adjust and is healthy.

I can tell from your post that you mean well, are not attacking Rachel, and want to spare her potential heartbreak. But as someone else has posted higher up, she has decided to take Sadie, which should be the end of it. She has done a lot of research on all the things you listed and has prepared very carefully for Sadie's arrival. She also has an aunt who has a Yorkie and can advise her.

You obviously have a good heart. Please try to support her. I'm so glad your Lexie is fine now.

Good post!

Rachel, Good luck with your pup, I hope for her sake and yours that she will have a long, happy and healthy life with you.

I remember that nervousness and excitement so well..it was 2 years ago for me now..I was choked with emotion as she was put in my arms, I will never forget it.
My Pixie came from an excellent hobby show breeder here in the UK with over 45 yrs experience, so i was lucky in that i knew she had the best possible start in life and she continues to do well today..Goodluck with your baby.

YT members have contacted him and he appears to have a very large number of puppies for sale (different litters), and he either knows nothing about what medical care puppies require, or is counting on his buyers not to. The registry he uses is known to be a popular one with puppy mills.

The OP says that because she has spoken to this man in person, and because he is very nice in person, he must be breeding healthy dogs in humane conditions. No word about genetic testing for LP, liver shunt, or visiting the home.

Everyone posted this information as kindly and clearly as they could, and the OP decided that anyone who wasn't in enthusiastic agreement with the decision to buy a puppy from this operation was hateful and attacking. The OP knows she lives in a state known for the huge number of puppy mills and has decided it's not worth the time to be careful. This is how puppy mills and the like stay in business -- a lot of us didn't know better when we got our pups, but this person doesn't care.

To the OP again -- most of us here do not have show quality dogs. We support breeders who only breed yorkies, who make sure their yorkies are not carriers for genetic diseases, and probably only have a few puppies a year. $1,000 is a lot of money, but you are not buying a car, you are buying a lifetime companion. If you were as casual as you say you are about just getting a puppy from a neighbor's dog, you would go to a yorkie rescue. Or just go to the pound.

I promised myself I would not respond anymore, but I want it to be clear why not everyone is beside themselves with joy that the OP is getting her pup (7 weeks old now?).

They are more like $700, and cheaper if you are willing to get one that is six months old.

Rachel, you are getting yourself a puppymill pup, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT WHATEVER YOU SAY. (Just b/c they are nice doesn't mean they are not a mill.) But seeing as you really don't care, I really hope this pup of yours does not have horrible health conditions. If and when she does, I really hope you will still come back to us for advice.

I don't see anyone on here trying to 'one up' on each other?
There is great love and passion for the breed on here, so puppymill issues and BYB will always cause some discussions to get a bit heated...we are here to educate and advise through personal experience...many members on here themselves got a puppymill or BYB puppy before they found YT...so all they are trying to do is to stop others from making the same mistakes they did and to save you pain and heartache, and if we all spread the word perhaps eventually these places will be closed for good...
Here in the UK, in just the last few days, our national news have been looking at puppy farms and the large pet stores that they supply to....they secretly filmed in one particular puppy farm and it was just horrendous...heartbreaking...the conditions that the mothers and puppies were living in were disgusting...dirty, cramped, no bedding to snuggle in..or toys to play with...one puppy was lying motionless...it had probably died from an infection...so you see how bad these places CAN be...is it any wonder people get so upset.
They interviewed people that had purchased puppies from these stores and so many of their dogs had died at young ages through poor health.

Once again Rachel...i'm sorry you feel people are getting at you but also try to understand why that is....and i hope you stick around, make new friends here and learn as much as i have done...goodluck with your puppy...and don;t forget to post lots of pictures to share with us.
