Yorkie Yakker | Please view my video and shed some light :) Hello again..still no news on the move back to Australia BUT here is a link for your viewing assist or maybe confirm some behavior that has had us a little concerned. Let me fill you in before you view it. We started taking Dolce for walks about 1 1/2 months ago.......they started as a few times a week and then when seeing how he enjoyed it we increased it to 4 and 5 times a week. he does use alot of energy at home so we gathered that he would not need to go for walks everyday. We live in Istanbul in a fairly roomy apartmentment so he has PLENTY of running room...and it's a good thing he has 2 daddies that are kids at heart cause we love to play alot. NOW ........for a few weeks now Dolce has been behaving like he is depressed or sulking......if we are on the PC or on the phone or cooking he will just lay on the ground and almost cry. so we leave what we are doing to cheer him up...but we have done this less cause we don't want him thinking that this behavior is gonna get him what he wants every single time. From about 1 week ago this behavior has changed to what looks more like him having a seizure (ears pulled back and nose in the air and licking) and it can go on all day and sometimes days...until he is so stiff he looks like he has had a stroke. BUT should we say the words 'WALK WALK' the seizure position stops...ears come forward....and then within a split second of him realizing that there won't be 'A WALK WALK' he returns to this uncomfortable position agian. should we walk away or if he thinks we can't see him he does not hold this postion.. At night or during his nap he will scream out.....and we can hardly touch him.... it's as if he is sooooooo angry we didn't take him for a walk that he just can't let go of this mission he has to tell us he is not happy with us. OK so he is the FACEBOOK LİNK and you can then go to the video titled ' 3 or more days of this' and then followed by I'm not in a good mood...and I don't like your singing'! and then the 3rd video I SAİD.....I don't wANNA PLAY' ! Feel free to view the others http://www.facebook.com/pages/Istanbul/dOLce/122525019216 So..if you could clear or confirm for us our thoughts that would be great I should also mention Dolce is 6 months old and we have been told he is going through Puberty .... ok we are hanging out for some feed back .....thanks Dolce's Dads NB:Please .... no....'TAKE HİM TO THE VET' cause we have and there is nothing the vet can see that is physically wrong with him __________________

| Wow! That is wierd..sorry I'm not of much help but maybe you can search on youtube for videos of yorkie's having seizures and compare...I don't know if he's exhibiting all the traits of a seizure but the "stiffening" sounds like enough for concern. Don't know waht else to say since the vet is saying he can't see anything wrong with him.. I can't view the link either as I am at work but will when I get home. Best of luck.

| Couldn't view the video, can't find it. Anyway if I were you, I'd just take the video to the Vet. and see what their ideas are. Dogs don't really think as we do, so I would be trying to find out what's wrong with him. Sometimes when dogs lick the air it's due to some form of pain they are in. Good luck to you three and be sure to let us know how this turns out.

| I think it is odd behavior as well. It appears that he has some control but not all? Like he can put his ears forward and look around and lick. Have you tried distracting him with something other than a walk? Like a treat maybe? If he has the capability of jumping up and acting normal then I would think it was just a behavior and not a seizure. If he refuses treats, toys, all his favorites, and goes back to the position like he did on the video I would take the video to the vet. Walks are way more than excercise to a dog. They get to smell the world and see what is around. Way more fun than hanging out in the house. If he is not neutered perhaps he is smelling a dog in heat in the neighborhood and wants to investigate. On the Australia thing, I would see if you can find a foster in a nearby country for the six months and ship him in from there. Sucks though. He is a doll.

WE would walk him more often but during the day Istanbul is a dangerous place for a small dog like him....we have has so many close calls... It's now 10.23pm here and Daddy 'S' is out with him......normally we go a little later. And this is when most of the Domestic dogs are out and he gets to se his friends......the street dogs are a worry. What you dont see on the video is when he starts his screaming and we cant go near him..he gets soooo worked up!! and we try so hard!...... On the Australia this.....which I will update on the other thread..but 1 of us has decides that we are gonna stay back here in Istanbul while the other daddy (me) returns to Australia.....we will then try to work something out. we are concerned with fostering him out and the problems that may create on a deeper level. Ok thanks for you kind words and feedback it's great help to hear what you and all have to say Dolces dads DADDY 'S' and DADDY'O'

As I am in the natural therapies field and work closely with people on a deeper level I am thinking that it could also be playing a part in it. And he tends to be more this way with me...as now we have decided that I will leave alone while Daddy 'S' stays behind. He can pick this up ...you know we just didn't even factor in dogs ability to sense these things and I had a MAltese back home for many years....I sorta forgot how they do this ....... Thank you for reminding me Thank you for your care Dolce's Dads DAD 'S' and DAD'O'

| Do you have any friends with safe, small dogs that you could let him play with? Maybe he's in some sort of back pain because the way he arches his neck/head seems a bit unnatural, like he's trying to make his back shorter. I would take the video to the vet and maybe if they aren't willing to figure it out, try emailing the video to another vet you trust. I agree that in the end, it could also be that he senses something is wrong Just this morning, when I took Stella to the vet for her spay, she must've sensed I was worried because normally she LOVES going to the vet (it's weird, but she loves going and playing with all the techs there) but yet she was crying while we were in the waiting room. I've never heard her cry like that and she had no reason to, so the only thing I can pin it to is that she knew I was upset/worried. |
