| Does anyone else's yorkie "scratch off" after doing their business? I think that is cute when Teddy does that, like he's proud of that one. |

| Mr J Gatsby is 1 1/2 y.o., and he neither squats nor lifts his leg (yes, he does pee). How, you may be wondering? Well, he is SO lazy, that he stretches himself out with his back legs all stretched out to the rear and in line/parallel. I have never seen him lift his leg. He has basically no interest in marking his territory unless we go someplace different, and then he may pee more times, but using his stretch method. Usually its once and that is it for the entire walk, he's done. My former male who passed away (Pippin) used to pee so often on walks that he ran out of "ammo" before we got 1/2 a block, and he lifted his leg as high as he could. Here is the weirdest thing - Gatsby's sister Daisy lifts her leg all the time! Of course she is a little tom boy... ![]() Last edited by shawnzeppi; 08-04-2009 at 05:46 PM. |

![]() They usually do it when pooping, and only occationally when peeing (at least that is my experience). Strange what evolution and selective breeding has done to dogs.

| Nikko is about 11 months old now, and I've not once seen him lift his leg to pee, ever. I think it would be cute if he picked up the habit at some point, but at least he never marks, so I can't complain. ![]() Lauren & Nikko |

| When Alfie is out, his leg is permanently in the air, I was thinking of nailing it down. |

| Paco starting lifting his leg at about 5-6 months ... I wish he would just squat because when he pee's on the pee pad most of it lands outside the pad instead of on it . Because of that I'm trying to train him to go outside ... but it hasn't been going well

I don't know why, but it really is kind of funny!...to see this tiny little dog hiking his leg lol It just looks like he's trying to be 'big man' and he's just a little squirt. *giggle* Quote:
Have you tried taking his pee pad out to the designated area? THat's how I first got Turk to go outside. He pee'd on the pad out on the grass a couple times and then it seemed to click. Good luck!

| YT Addict | Emmett is 2 and lifts his leg to pee. I had to make him a little post to aim at that I put on his pee pads so he doesn't miss, lol.
