| EWW Gross!!!!!!! Ok so I was holding Roxy on Sunday and I noticed something that made me so sick to my stomach. I was putting her hair up and what comes running across her scalp?? You guessed it....a FLEA!!!! I immediately took her to the sink and gave her a good washing and coated her with ACV. Then we went back to the chair and I picked off not one, but FOUR little boogers!!! I haven't seen anymore since then but I just could not believe what I was seeing. My dad said he took her outside while my hubby and I were not home....grrrr Roxy does not go outside because we live in Florida and the fleas here are CRAZY!!! I guess its time to get her on some flea prevention. Any recommendations??

| I know the feeling. Fiona was invested so badly with them last summer, and again this summer they are back, i put frontline plus on her in june, and then frontline top spot in july, and they are still here. She is going to the vet on thursday so i'll find out what to use now! Good luck!

| I always get a couple of cans of the home flea spray also when Alfie has to be deinfested just to make sure none of the little creatures can breed in the house. Only costs a small amount at the petstore. The biggest problem we have is in the woods and there are lots of wild foxes up there which carry them. Last edited by coolbar; 07-28-2009 at 09:34 AM. |

| I have Stella on Revolution--I've never found any fleas and she LOVES to roll around in icky grass/dirt. She tolerates it well and doesn't seem to act any different or have any itchiness/tenderness after I use it. I also like that it's not greasy and it dries really fast. |

| oohhh luckily fleas are not an issue up here, ticks are though. Frontline Plus is what I use. I hate using it but it works. Every time I put it on my babies I know Im in for a night of throwing up and Im always apologizing to them for having to put it on. They try to get away from me when they see the tube! I hate that stuff, but again it works, at least for ticks.

| I use advantage, but when that runs out I'm going with Comfortis. Use what your vet suggests. Whatever you do, DON'T buy anything made by Hartz or anything purchased at a pet store.

| I get it from her Vet. I believe it can be used on pups 8 weeks or older--they have very weight-specific dosages (when Stella was only 4 lbs, they had her on a puppy/5lb and under dose, once she gained weight, they put her on 5-10 lbs), which I like because it's less of a range than some of the others, so she's getting close to the exact amount she needs rather than the dose for a dog twice her size! It's about $12 a month from my Vet, but supposedly there's a promotion for buy 6 months, get one free right now because we got 7 for the price of 6 last time. In my opinion, it's a good deal either way because you don't have to give heartworm and flea preventative since it's all in one. Vet also said she doesn't see nearly as many reactions to Revolution as she does to other flea/heartworm meds. |

| Here's their website and more info about Revolution: Revolution (selamectin) stops fleas and prevents heartworms. Actually, it says 6 weeks and older, but I don't really know why you'd be exposing them to fleas and such when they don't have any vaccs yet. |

| I have them on Frontline Plus. I have seen fleas jump on them while on a walk (I happened to be squatting down & one jumped on Mimi girl & I tried grabbing it, but it disappeared into her hair!!) Lol I'm going to do some more research on Capstar & give them that as well since it's flea season. Fleas stay on our pets only 20% of the time, so I'll be vaccuming alot & bombing the house, also treating the lawn.

| Does anyone know the websites (besides 1800petmeds) that you can order meds?? I plan to call my vet today about the Revolution. He likes Comfortis but it is really expensive and didn't work as well as I had hoped on my chi. He hates Sentinal so that is definately out but I am going to try Revolution, I have seen it in his office before.
