Grooming I just had my yorkie groomed and it was 27.00 dollars and she had everything done. Haircut, toenail trimming, ears checked, etc I think that is a little high :aimeeyork |
NYC must have really high rent to be charging those prices!! Yikes! |
$20.00 for everything plus tip....... |
I pay 25.00 for everything :) The main thing is to try and find a groomer you can relate to and trust, I found a small in home who only does one babie at a time, This way there not in crates wating to be done, I really like this ;) Im lucky enough to live close so i can take each one seperate. |
Dior's grooming is $55 (without tip)...typical price for NYC. I save money by keeping her coat in a medium length, tipping her ears and trimming her privates myself. |
I get charged $65 plus tip for a full groom which includes bath, cut, nails, teeth and anal glands. Now that I have a 2nd baby I will be trying to groom myself cause that will just be to expensive. Especially that I have already purchased the clippers a while back. I just need to get a yorkie grooming dvd. |
My new groomer charges less when they are a puppy ( The puppy package) but now that mine are both over a year I pay $50.00 each ( before tip) and that is for full grooming...the works , head to toe and everything in between. So I think it's a great deal ! :) Plus she does an excellent job and my furbutts don't mind going , they actually seem to like it there. |
Haircuts I have two 6-month-old male Yorkies and I'm hopeing to cut them myself. Do any of you cut your own Yorkie's hair? If so how is it and did you get a book to learn? |
I charge 35 for a yorkie.Same for all small dogs unless severly matted. The smaller the dog the harder it is to groom. Most people don't understand this.If you trust this groomer and she is gentle and knowledgable then pay the 60. It sometimes takes me an hour and fifteen minutes to groom a tiny tiny yorkie after the bath where I can do a cocker in 30 min.Think of reparing a clock versus a tiny delecate wrist watch.I don't charge more for these little ones because people don't understand the logic. I just make up the difference on the ones people don't take care of and come in a matted mess those clients need to be chareged more and thus it can be easily justified. But to sum it up, 60 for a hair cut from a reputable trust worthy groomer is way less than a tiny broken leg or worse. These little things are delecate! |
That seems awfully high for such a small dog, but I guess it's all about location, location, location lol. When I lived in a small town in Texas, they charged me about $30 for my cocker and $45 for my large shepherd mix. I moved back to Georgia just last summer, and was surprised to be charged a little over $100 for both dogs to be done. This is a slightly bigger area than the town in Texas, but I still consider it a fairly small town. I have no idea how much they would charge for a yorkie here. In Texas, they told me they charge according to size, so the bigger the dog, the more I would pay. At first it made sense because I know I hate to bathe my big dog because she takes up the entire tub and it's difficult for me to bathe her, (hard to reach places lol), however, when it comes down to a hair cut, she is the fastest, not much to be done to her, whereas I always had a "cocker" cut for the other dog and even though she's much smaller, requires more time and effort to cut her this way. I'm guessing it also depends on how much competition there is in your area. |
