You feel the glands and see if they feel full.

I understand groomers charging $60.00 for a pup, they are not yet trained

I'm a groomer and charge $35.00

This is what they get:

1. Massage
2. Teeth brushed
3. Ear canal hair removed and ears cleaned
4. Anal glands checked and expressed if needed
5. Bath with shampoo specific to their coat and skin needs
6. Conditioner and warm towel wrap to set conditioner, rinse and blow dried in my arms'
6. Nails Clipped
7. Hair styled according to owners specification, inclusive of a show bow if pup requires a topknot

The glands are on each side of the anal opening. It is possible, but not probable, expecially in toy breeds. Have your vet check them, most are willing to show you the correct way of expressing them.

Hmm, I don't feel anything, just her bones LOL. I will ask her vet next time, thanks.

Wow you do a lot and what a great price. I also pay $35 and go to a groomer that breeds and shows Yorkies and he is fabulous. He does all that you do except the teeth brushed..wow you are good!!:thumbup:

I'm a breeder/exhibitor too.

I don't cage the dogs but, do expect you to pick them up within 2 1/2 hours.

The only time I do up my price is when clients don't bring dogs in every 6 to 8 weeks and bring them in entirely matted. I don't shave the dogs down, but matting does take time to get out.

If you or your vet is checking them regularly, then it should be fine. However, one should be aware of impacted or burst anal glands....not fun.

someone is on the make

I pay £20.00 about $30.00 in uk

and I get a good service for that, the girls at the parlour love alfie and even though I say NO BOWs cos he's a boy, they always tie one to his collar on the way out to wind me up.

It's now a standing joke with the girls, I tell them he has to have a short cut cos hes a ratter, so they spruce him up.

When i pick him up he pounces down the road like he is king,

So comical, what a poser he is.

easiest way with the glands is during bath time

gently massage around the anus, easy done

You will know if they are blocked as your dog will drag its bum on the floor

same with all dogs

do you have a petsmart close by, they used to have a special for less than 20 for a quick trim and other stuff, I pay only 39 for chester now for a full groom. hair cut , nail ears and bath, I woyuld look around if you can

$30 for a full haircut even as a puppy includes nails, glands and toothbrushing

$20 for a mini trim (face feet butt ears)

$10 bath and blow dry only
