| My furbaby Jack loves to ride the motercycle. He started out riding in the basket of our 4 wheeler. We put his harness on and attach it so he can't fall out. When we go on the motercycle he has his harness on with the leash tied around my waist and sits in my arms (I am the passanger). He did not like it in the bag because he likes to look around. We have taken him on lots of rides to diffrent state parks and he would be so sad if he did not get to go. |

| Well this is the thread that brought me back here and yes, I am the Larry mentioned in the second post. Lexie has been riding over 4 years now with 2010 being a banner year. Lexie rode over 10,000 miles this year on my new bike. Granted that I have customized a lot of gear to enable her to be comfortable and safe on the bike, but its really not that hard as long as your dog likes it. I would never have her do it against her will. When I first took her for a ride she enjoyed it and I didn't think anything of it. At the time I rode a loud Harley Davidson Electra glide Ultra Classic. Then one day I went to leave on the bike and she went nuts. She wanted up on that bike in the worst way. It was then that I realized she instantly developed a love for the bike. Today I can't go near the bike without her wanting to sit on the seat as I get ready just so she can be sure she is not left behind. I created a web site for her because so many people would chase us down and take pics. Today, the web site is lettered on the bike so people do not have to go nuts to see her. If you are thinking of taking your pup on the bike, i am sure there is not a situation I have not been in from heavy rain to extreme cold or worse, extreme heat. Feel free to ask away. BTW, I am currently developing a line of heated clothing for dogs so Lexie can ride all winter with me. If successful, I plan on using the line for hunting and sporting dogs. Here she is: www.Lexie-Rides.com

| I ride my motorcycle with my yorkie. I use two double snaps and attach them to my belt loops and her harness. A towel strapped to my gas tank with a cargo net. Depending on temps, now lower than 75 usually she has her little pink biker jacket and her hot pink doggles. I woud strongly recommend getting pretective eye wear. She seems to like it. She also rides horses with me attached the same way. Have fun and be safe. |

First requirement is Eye Protection. Its a must! Lexie hates her doogles...unless we are riding. She knows that when on the bike, they must stay on. Also, be sure to clean them often. You too would hate looking through dirty sunglasses. Next is proper gear. I have both a rain coat for Lexie and a wind breaker which is semi rain resistant. Then comes the layers. The colder it is, the more layers she wears. I know I have done it right when we stop and I remove the layers and her body is warm. This year I added a customized tank bag. (My pouch is for sale if anyone is interested) Lexie now gets tethered into the tank bag and can sit up, move around and lay down. Best part about this is that now I can actually cover her in heavy rain with a clear rain lid for the tank bag. She can still see out and yet stays dry. We only use the cover in heavy down pours. If its a light drizzle, she dons the Rain Coat or Wind Breaker. Finally, don't forget those ears! They are huge and can catch a lot of wind and rain. I currently use a doo rag for that, but I also have a Full Face helmet in the works along with real riding gear that will cover her completely. That includes paws, under the belly and around the face. Be sure to check out all her travel pics on her web site. Click on my profile and then home page to see them all.

| We have a Harley and took Autumn when she was about 3 years old. She was scared......I think the rumble of the bike is too noisy for her sensitive ears. We went to a Fall Harley Ride a couple weeks a go and there were quite a few people that had their dogs with them on the bike. They were bigger though, like maybe 10 lbs............I talked to one Lady that had a Yorkie. OMG I felt so sorry for that dog.........The fur was matted so bad and looked like it desperately needed a bath! |
