| They are adorable and in this economy they seem to sell well in the $500 or $600 range but what I don't like other than mixing breeds is the fact that they only point out the good that can come from each breeding and none of the problems.

| Yea, we have some friends who recently bought a malti-poo, i think. when they told us i lost it. i couldn't believe as much as they seem to love my dogs that they would so that. they had seen it online and had never taken a moment to research what they were doing or think about it. now they feel foolish that they fell for it and the dog looks like a ????. cute, but who knows what it is. i have since been asked by the husband not to let preach about this anymore, but isnt it an important issue? maybe i should talk about politics instead..... maybe not.

| No doubt, there is a flipside to that coin that people forget about.

| A dog, is a dog, is a dog. A poorly bred Yorkie isn't much better than a mutt, IMO. To a person that only wants a pet, doesn't want to breed or show, there isn't much difference. It only makes sense to spend really serious money for a show quality dog...forget paying large money to a backyard breeder who has no idea of the genetic lineage of their litter. I don't understand why so many people are continuing to do this. It's wrecking the breed. No wonder Yorkies are ever more prone to genetic disease. It seems to happen to any breed that becomes popular.

| Morkies are very cute but you never know what they will truly look like. I fell for the cuteness and paid 450$ for a yorki-poo who turned out to look more yorkie but super crazy like a poodle and just way to difficult to potty train ( must of been the yorkie in her? ) I definitely wouldn't pay that much for another mixed dog ever. |

| I agree the minute a breed becomes popular, it becomes the kiss of death.

| I am pretty new to the whole dog ownership world, but aren't all breeds orginally mutts? I mean, maybe some day a morkie or maltipoo or another "designer breed" will be an actual AKC registared breed? Just thought I would throw my two cents into the issue. |

| Yes every breed started somewhere. Breeding was being performed by those with an intention. When an dog is recognized by the AKC it must have a function. Not for the purpose of breeding them as a marketing tool.
