| A lot of people will say that they stop growing around 8-12 months old but both of mine didn't stop growing until they were around 18 months old. My girl was just under 2 lbs at 10 wks and she is just under 6 lbs now and she is 3 yrs old. My boy was 3 lbs at 13 wks and is 10 lbs at 2 yrs old. It really is hard to tell what they'll end up weighing even when you know their heritage... there's always a chance that one will be small and/or another large. I have one of both sexes, sizes and colors and I couldn't love them more. Enjoy your baby!

| My girl is 8.5 lbs and she still seems small to me. But she is sturdy enough that I don't have to worry so much. Her parents were both around 5-6 lbs, so you just never know.

| 5.6 pounds is still very small. Jackson is 14lbs at 9 months old and he still seems small to me.

| I don't think there's any such thing as "too big", I mean unless your Yorkie is overweight.

| My Bella is 15months and is 4.5 lbs. I think she's pretty small but she definitely doesn't think she is, jumping off the bed and such. |

| Hehe...sorry this made me giggle, 5.6 pounds at 4 months I don't think will equal a big house dog. When you said that I imagined Munchie turning into a great Dane. He may be on the larger side for a yorkie but under 20 pounds to me is small for any dog.

| YT Addict | Well...when I bought Harley I was expecting him to stay under 5 pounds....he ended up about the size of yours at 4 months. He is now 9 months old is about 11 pounds. I did not expect that at all but love him just the same. |

| My baby is 10 pounds and I love it. We can really play with him and not have to worry so much about hurting him, especially with my kids. I always though I wanted a really small one, but now that I have Roscoe he is perfect size.

| YT 2000 Club Member | Tucker was 5 pounds even at 4.5 months old, he is now 9 pounds and has hasnt gotten any bigger since he was around 7/8 months, on the 23rd of this month he will be 10 months old. He got bigger than I expected being that his parents were around 4 pounds each, however I LOVE his size, he is still small (7 inches in height) and solid as a rock, he is not fat at all. I certianly worry less about him than I do my 4 pound toy poodle (2.5 years old). When I look into getting another dog I will definitly will look into one that is going to be on the "bigger" side. Your pup will probably be around 10 pounds when fully grown and that is still a small dog, more to love!!

| This was roughly Twinkle's weight at 4 months too! She's just over a year old now and weighs 12lb. The vet says she isn't overweight....just on the larger side for a yorkshire terrier, and I don't think my boy Wicket (nearly 6lb at 6months) will be far behind her! As someone has already said, a dog under 20lb in weight is very small for a dog. Our other dog, kaddie, is almost 30kg at 6 months old, so all other dogs seem tiny to me now! ![]() Would love to see some pics of your pup....I bet he's adorable! xxx

Skeeter is a big boy too at 8.5 lbs. The only time I really notice it is when I pick him up after holding Adie. He is a small dog and just as cute as a button. | |
