That's the same here. I now have to drive 45 minutes to avoid this charge.

BUT, out of this I also found thee best vet that I ever could! He's an farm vet but what Buddy's been through I can afford him! In the city they charge like 10 times more for the care he has had.

Is this lisence fee just for dogs that are registered? I've never heard of having to have this. I just know that she has to have a rabies tag but no one here seems to be anal enough to check every dog around. Also don't kid yourselves to think the money goes into the shelters because that's why everythings in a big mess now. Nothing ever is done the way it should be.

Nope, it isn't...Just another fee. I know in Texas, whenever I had my dogs rabies vaccinated, I'd pay $15.00 for a 3 year license fee. Didn't matter if it was intact or not.

In Idaho you can get a lifetime licence for around $45.00. I pay $38.00 a year for car tags and $94.00 a month for house and auto(full coverage auto) for both cars at that price. This is why I got the hell out of Ca. Just too much BS there. Just trying to figure out what took me so long. I can say it's the best thing I ever did.

I moved back from Texas about a year and half ago......but, Texas is fighting anti dog legislature too.....school taxes got you.

I'd forgotten how California beat you to death with this fee and that fee. And all the liberal attitudes. And the population seems to be overrun with entitelists.

Here it is required to have both rabies and distemper administered to your pets and then pay for the rabies tag and then an extra fee for license- we get a yearly reminder and have to renew I know of many who thought they could get away with it and they have come to check the homes. I would check with your vet we are always able to get both through them.

The only way around that is having your dogs vaccinated in another county and by a mobile vet.

Thnx for answering. Next week Roxie is getting her shots and Rabies is one of them. I will see what my vet says about it. As far as I know from the past the vet usually does it and you send in for the tag or they do. I've never had issues with anyone contacting me and telling me they have to have anything. Just a card from the vet saying they are due for something. That's why I asked if this was something that happens when the dog has akc papers. Since Roxie is only a pet for me to love and spoil I never sent her papers in. On the other hand my daughters husky does have papers and the county over from us where she was living (not anymore) sent her a paper telling her a fee was due and if she didn't pay it she would be fined. She's in the process of trying to get the dogs papers from her ex to get it straightened that the dog doesn't live in that county anymore.

We are in Riverside County and we have to pay $50 for tags a year. I am waiting on the rabies shots and will just buy them at the same time. So it will be about $56 for the shot and the license.

Wow! I just bought licenses for my two Tuesday and for spayed and neutered it was 6.00 each. Unspayed and un-neutered is 8.00 each.

I did notice last night though that the chick who did them for me left the Treasurer's copy attached to my copy. I need to find out about that. That's never happened before. It's always something...

It has nothing to do with being papered here in MI. They have to have the rabies and distemper to be licensed after they are 6 months old, and every year from there, if you talk to your vet they may be able to provide both the rabies and the dog license.
