| Puppy Nightmares? Has your yorkie ever had what you think is a bad dream or a nightmare? The weirdest thing happened last night. Stella normally sleeps with us in bed for a few hours until about 4am, when she has to get up to potty. Well, last night I was having a tough time sleeping and she's always up for a cuddle so I put her on my tummy and she fell asleep there. After about 15 minutes I could tell she was dreaming (her little paws and nose were just moving away like they do when she's having her puppy dreams), and it really startled me when a few seconds later she woke up suddenly with a really quiet sort of whimper/cry that I'd never heard before, and she seemed really startled. It took her a couple seconds to catch her breath and then she looked at me fearfully, the same way she does when she sees the vacuum cleaner come out (lol). I petted her a bit to calm her down and she went to the end of the bed and fell back asleep. But then a few minutes later, I was still awake and she was having another dream. Everything was silent, and we had a loud fan on in the room which pretty much blocks out all the outside noises. She woke up out of a dead sleep and stood up, completely alert and started incessantly howling at the bedroom door. She had never done anything like that before (she's always sleepy for a few minutes after she wakes up). So of course I freaked out, thinking someone had broken in or was outside, because she never barks except to tell me something. After having the fiance make sure no one was around, we all went back to bed and everything was fine for the rest of the night. My question is, do you think these were bad puppy dreams? I've never seen a dog have a nightmare before? |

| How funny you should mention this! Last night Uni was having a bad dream as well! Usually she just does the normal paws moving, ears twitching, mouth smacking sounds. But last night as she was sleeping she started growling! Small little grr grr grrs. Bf asked if I heard it, we were both still half asleep, not fully asleep yet, and I said yes. It was the funniest thing. She didn't wake up though, so your baby must have really had a bad nightmare!

| I have never owned a Yorkie but I'm looking to own one in the next couple months. I did have a collie/shepherd mix and a Scottie and they both would have nightmares from time to time. My Scottie at times would move his legs like he was chasing something in his sleep He was so cute! |

| Well its good to know Stella isn't the only one. I've just never had a dog that had a nightmare, let alone two in the same night! Makes you wonder what they dream about besides running and sniffing things. |

| Yep, Ariel has done that a few times. She would be fast asleep in her bed, and then all of a sudden would start whimpering, while still asleep. I do wonder what they dream of |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Wow, Bella did that the second night she was with us, at 8wks old. She was in her crate in our room and I was in bed, my DH was down stairs watching T.V. All of a sudden I heard this loud screetching sound and movement, it kind of sounded like a monkey screech. I jumped out of my bed, afraid of what I might find, and looked into her crate and saw her all standing up all the way in the back of the crate. I also saw that she had peed every where. Don't know what she could have possibly seen in her 8 wks to be afraid of, but I took her out and cuddled with her. LOL, when my DH heard her he came running up and dared to ask me what I did to her! What an absurd question! I knew he was just being protective. |

| I've heard Kimbo do this once or twice. It's just a tiny whimper. |
