It is very difficult to buy a dog without first seeing it. Especially if you are looking for specifics. It doesn't sound like your baby will be too big anyway. A 1.5 to 2lb dog??? hard to find and do you realize how big 2lbs is. It's like a guinea pig! I think you made mistakes here and you should have researched and saw exactly what you were buying before you lay out that kind of money.

I agree with this post.I understand your upset but now you need to think about the puppy.Don't know about anyone else but I bonded with Tia the first night I had her. When I got her I didn't know what I was getting and ended up with a tiny 5lb er and that is small , but I didn't care how big she got , it was too late , I was in love with her regardless.

I says she already had 3 "teacup" yorkies. I'm a little confused as to what this "very nice" breeder did. Everyone is very nice when they want to sell you something. When you buy something from a stranger you have to be aware. She is going on the fact that she talked to her a couple of times and she was nice. I don't think she has a case at all. I paid alot for my babies also. There would have to be a cold day in hell to get these guys away from me. There is no guarantee about size. I don't like the fact that the weight is scratched out but I think she is going a little overboard. Send the baby back if you don't want it. It is not like a wallet or something that you buy on the internet. If she has 3 "teacup" yorkies already then you think she would have more sense. Sorry my opinion. So what if it's bigger anyway. You got what you paid for. This baby doesn't sound like it will be big anyway.

Where do you live? There was an interesting case in New York City a few years ago that involved the same issue, a person paying more for a "teacup" Maltese who ended up weighing eight pounds.

O'Rourke v. American Kennels

In this case the breeder was found to be in violation of Uniform Commercial Code because she mislead the buyer into believing she was getting a smaller "teacup" dog and charged $1,000 more for it. The owner was awarded the $1,000 difference in price by the court.

Love about a purse puppy

As far as I am concerned I wouldn't want anything under 5lbs.My little dog died as 15.I bought another from a breeder, she was very nice she had 3 puppies out of the litter I got, there were two very tiny ones,I told her I was going to sleep on it for the night, but I decided to get the last girl out of the litter, shews adorable. She said she would be about 6 or 7 lbs that was great for me, well she is going to be two in August and she turned out to be nine lbs.Never gave it a thought of returning her, she is so sweet, I just love her really to much if that i s possible. She is sweet, great temperment and love all adults, children and other dogs. I got her at 7 weeks which was young, she was completely house broke at 10 weeks, never had a night to adjust, she adjusted right away, what more could I ask for, a 2or 3 lber.No thanks I love my little gir just the way she is. Love, love, love he and she is not a barker, what more can I ask for.

Ok for one, no breeder knows the size of what a puppy will end up, we can guess but only God knows that. Some grow slow and looks they will be small but keep growing after a year old. Then you have some that grow really fast but then stop growing at 6-7 months old. I don't think a court is going to doing anything about the size of a dog. For as what you paid that is about what a AKC Yorkie cost if in is within AKC standards, the ones that goes for $500 most the time will be out of standard or not from good bloodlines. I had to paid $2000 for a stud that end up almost 3lbs. But the bottom line is you ordered a dog off the net the same as you would a pair of jeans. It is a puppy, so you should have found a breeder close to you, so you could have went and saw how the puppy was raised and kept. Then you would have seen the size when you got there, if you did not want him you could have left. People should stop order puppies off the net, the only time this should happen is show breeders and if you know the breeder & her bloodlines , ect. You can not tell anything about a person over a phone or in a email. Sorry, but I am sure the puppy is very sweet and cute. All puppies is. (I will say for the size you think you want comes with low blood sugar, and you can't leave them. They are alot of work. I have yorkies of all sizes and my heart is with my 1st yorkie and she is 6.5 -7 lbs (my vet thinks she need to stay around 6-6.5 lb but she love her food!!) LOL

It would be a better idea for you and the pups if you wouldn't buy from the internet, brokers, mills, etc. Instead, find a reputable breeder, visit the home, see the parents and the babies, read the contract, health reports etc, and THEN decide which baby you want to give a forever home to.

Tinies are cute, no doubt but realistically, they are MUCH more difficult to raise. Mine is a bitty one at just 3 lbs and I don't know if she'll get any bigger but I sure hope she does! She is just so little, so easy to trip over or step on, and I am constantly worried about her getting hurt. They also have more health issues compared to the larger (if 5 lbs is actually considered large here) dogs might have.

Yes, you may have been duped a bit by her giving you the b.s weight guarantee but you should have known that wasn't possible in the first place. The price was great either way and you have to take your share of the responsibility here. You didn't do your research and you got bent. Lesson learned. (hopefully)

I really hope you don't take this out on the pup and that you can love her and take care of her forever. If not, please rehome her, she doesn't deserve anything but the best!

Really the dog only weighs 12 more ounces than she said the dog did and that is not bad. He is still really small.

I say keep the pup and love him. If he is healthy, that is more important than weight in my opinion.

I dont think breeders can always tell how small a dog will be. I bought a girl who was 12 oz at 8 weeks and the breeder thought she would be about 3 lbs. I paid extra for her to be small. She is 6 lbs. It ssounds like your pup is still going to be small

I say ~
1. return the puppy back to the breeder/broker
2. decide if you truly want a pet or an accessory.
3. research the Yorkshire Terrier Breed
4. find a reputable breeder

and I always say.... never assume anything. Know your facts before you make big decisions or moves.
