| Batteries I know , sometimes you feel like you need to take their batteries out so they will hold still long enough to get a pic. Maybe while he's sleeping you could get a shot of him. |

| Color Dilution Alopecia I hate to be the barer of bad news but your blue born pup has a condition called Color Dilution Alopecia. I've seen photos of older Blue born yorkies, the tan hair areas will grow but the blue areas dont grow or are patchy. The tend to have dry, flakey skin (blue areas) and the skin often times become infected. Clinical signs of problems may not show up until 2-3 years of age (their coats may look normal until they begin to show clinical signs) but sometimes clinical signs may starts earlier. colour dilution alopecia Color Dilution Alopecia The breeder is right when when she said this color is rare, I hope she also talked to you about the health problems associated with this condition. I would try to learn about this condition and be sure your vet knows about Color Dilution Alopecia so you will be prepared for what you may be facing in the future with your puppy. Good luck your pup, I wish him a long, happy and healthy life.

| Sue is right and we have had many threads (blue born) about this condition. I hope you will post who your breeder is so other people can be warned away from this breeder.

| I am so sorry for you. Your breeder should have known and Not called it rare in a good sense when in reality it is not good. It is a defect. This is her second pup like this and she should not be breeding for this. Also you said you got this pup at 7 weeks! Yikes! Yorkies need to wait till 12 weeks of age, which is recommended, before going to their new home. I am so sorry for you, but reading up on this will help to prepare you. |

YT 500 Club Member | Your message about your silver yorkie actually brought a smile to me. Many years ago I bred a litter of 'pet' yorkies, [I was younger and not so wise].. There were 5 in the litter and one little male was also born silver. He went to live with my sister and her family as they owned the dad Bobby. Yes he had a poor coat, virtually non existant in places, and a crooked mouth, but everyone loved him and he was 14 years old when he passed away. No he wasn't deaf or blind either. A few years later while at a show I over heard a conversation between 2 other exhibitors who were indignitly stating to another there was no such thing as a silver born yorkie, i knew otherwise but kept quiet being new to the whole thing, so I applaud Breeders in America for acnowledging it as a fault and its existance but I just wanted to say that they can live long and reasonably healthy lives. Laddie never went to the vets for any health problems in all of his 14 years. |

| He is a lucky boy to have a mommy so interested in his health and wanting to be informed of his possible medical issues he may or may not get. Whenever someone says to me "I want to get a yorkie" I say well, you better have money and learn all there is to know. There sure is alot. I never heard of this. Very interesting and good luck. Would love to see an older pic!!! I would also warn people about this breeder and also inform her that she is not knowledgeable on what she is breeeding and selling. |
