| For those with adult Yorkies. How often do you take them outside to do their business? I know they say every half hour for puppies but what about adults? |

| I have been having to take my Oliver (almost 3 years old) out for his potty because he had lp surgery. He goes out about 4, maybe 5 times from am until bed. We have a doggie door and he has been using it since he was a pup. Hope it helps.

| Mine are 2.5 and I take them out every 2.5 or 3 hours when they are free roaming. If they are in their cages they hold it all night or all day while I am at work but if they are out they have a tendency to use the bathroom freely if I don't consciously take them out regularly. |

| Buddy get's walked 4 times from Mon-Fri and 5x on Sat & Sun. I like to walk He's 5 now but this schedule has been in place since he's been 6mos old. This is our Mon-Fri schedule. Weekends happen when they happen but good for 5 times out. 6:10- am about 15mins 8:00- am right before I leave for work about 15min 5:50- pm as soon as I get home around 20-25mins 9:30-9:45 pm before bed time. about 15 mins. He can hold it at least up to 9hrs. I have never been longer than that and that's really pushing it if I am stuck in traffic. When I am home he get's that extra walk sometime after lunch just for fun. |

| When we're at my dad's house with a big fenced in yard, he's let out all the time throughout the day. But at my regular house, I would say Jackson gets let out about 5 times a day. He's 8 months old right now. He goes out first thing every morning around 8am and he sleeps through the night from about 10pm-8am every night.

| They say puppies should be able to hold it 1 hour per month of puppy ,so a four month old pup should be able to hold it for four hours(unless excessive drinking or eating).I have found smaller yorkies and most small breeds tend to be half that so the same 4 month old puppy would be 2 hours hold time

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | My Misty will be 3 in November and she goes out when she wakes up and then she lets me know when she has to go back out. Sometimes she waits until bedtime before she wants to go back out. Is that a problem? I've tried putting her out at about noon, but all she does is just walk around on the deck for a few minutes then wants to come in. That's her schedule.

| Piper is 14 months old and she still has to be brought out every 2 hours to be accident free. She was very difficult to house train because she had to go out every hour as a puppy. We use to call her The Piddler because she had to go so often. She would even piddle down the hall as she chased her ball. I don't think she was even aware that she was piddling. I was convinced that she must have some kind of urinary infection and took her to the vets and all her tests came back negative. The vet said that she had an immature bladder and I had to remember that her bladder was very small to start out with. He said to give her time and be consistant and she would train eventually. She has come a long way from that piddling little baby.

| When we are home I let them out to the backyard every hour most of the time. At night I get up around 3 am to let them pee. When we are at work they are in their crates hubby and me come home at different lunch times (thank goodness for living so close to work) so they are only in their crates about 4 hours and then they pee. I know they can hold their pee long periods of time, but I feel guilty at nights if I don't get up and let them relive themselves b/c thier bladders are so small
