Let me guess you bought him from a pet store that said it was ok to buy a puppy this young, because he's eating solid food...........

You should not own a dog.........

Sorry you felt attacked!

Either way, you've got the puppy now, so nothing we can do about the age thing!

Let him know that acting that way towards other dogs is not OK early on. Tell him No! when he acts that way and show him the correct way to be. Treat him when he behaves properly!

To Manolo's Mom, You did nothing wrong. Mr Stelting is the one who attacked Alliepoop and who owes her an abject apology. Mr Stelting obviously has stonger opinions than he has good sense. Of all the posts I've seen on this site the only thing these Yorkie owners are guilty of is loving their furbabys more than they love themselves, which is fine with me cause that's the way I feel about Annie Grace. Thanks for letting me rant.

And this is the reason so many "newbies" don't return here...Not EVERYBODY is 100% knowledgeable about this breed...that is the reason we are here....ALL OF US! Those of us who have researched the breed KNOW they shouldn't leave Mom until A LEAST 12 wks old....However, in this case the Mom was sick...When I bought my first one I didn't know about the age thing either....I got Sadie at 7 wks old...and she was from a breeder! NOW I know better...We should not judge people when they come on here for help...This just turns people away....this is SUPPOSED to be a site to HELP people....not bash them!!

First....Welcome to YT!
Please do not let one person scare you away from here...I also think he was harsh....This is a wonderful site with many good, helpful members...stick around and you will see...On your new little one.........Maybe he was scared around the golden...they are alot bigger than a yorkie puppy (or an adult for the matter) and very clumsy...maybe the pup felt nervous around him...I don't think I'd worry about it too much right now,....your pup is still young.

Good Luck!

Yesterday a friend came over (sigh...without calling) to visit our new baby and brought his 12 week old retriever (cute BIG furball!)..... anyway all was well for about 15 minutes until the retriever finally got his giant tongue on Buster's face and Buster let out the biggest growl and snapped at him.

Buster has been chasing around our labador and cat all week - with no problems -- all has gone wonderful.

Is this little outburst anything to worry about??? or was he just scared? I really want to bring this little guy up well - and be well adjusted. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
I have to kind of laugh. The image of the little guy saying that he's had enough at such a young age is too cute. I do understand your concern and at this young of an age I wouldn't get too worried about it. Maybe just pick him up and remove him from the situation. One of the previous posters said something about it probably startled Buster and I have to agree. It's something I've learned to watch for with my Roxie because she thinks she's way bigger then she is. If a bigger dog tries to take something away from her or does something threatening she tends to want to go at them in self defense. I just pick her up out of the danger she's creating for herself and all is usually fine and forgotten. Someone else may have another suggestion or advice that you like better. That's just what I do when it seldom happens. Also welcome to YT and congrats on your new little one. I'm so glad you were able to give this little guy a home with lots of love in a time of need. Sorry about your shakey start here. As in any public forum there will always be that one person that opens mouth and inserts foot.

Default I standby my first posting

No 6 week old puppy should be taken away from it's mother and put around other dogs, esp. dogs that you aren't 100% sure where they have been and what other dogs they have been around.

No shots or vacinations have been given to this puppy thus it is highly subject to all kinds of illnesses.

A good breeder would keep a puppy this young and bottle feed it until it is old enough to start it's vacinations. Someone that "has raised dogs" in the past and care about them should also know this.

Introducing such a young puppy to all kinds of possible illnesses as you have done is inexcusable to me and I will not change my mind.

Who was the breeder you bought him from? They are not good breeders to me.

How much does the little guy weigh? That was very good of you to rescue the little fellow because the mother was ill. How is his health? What are you feeding him? Have any pictures to share?

I would have attacked the Breeder and not her, but the Breeder is her mom, I think she really just does not know. The pup should have been with mom until 12 weeks but its not. So what we would suggest is to make sure and not take this baby out or around other dogs until 10 days after the last series of shots. Im sure your mom did her best and we have all seen so many breeders selling pups at a young age just to make money. But this is not the case. Can you keep the pups mom for a while? I know you are trying to learn, I just learned a couple of years ago so you are way ahead of me. There is alot of socialization between the ages of 8 and 12 weeks with the mom. Very Important for a Baby Yorkie to be with mom. See what you can do. But dont allow the pup to be around any other dog for now. Sorry, I dont mean to be stern, Good Luck and please keep us posted.

I didn't see where she said that her mother was the breeder. But I did read where she said she had to take the puppy so young because the puppy's mother became ill and the puppies had to go somewhere. Allieoop, do you know what was wrong with the mother? Were any of the littlermates sick, too?

I thought she was talking about her own mother and that she had take the pups. Sorry if I misunderstood.
