| They cut her hair *cries* The other day I was out shopping with chloe and she needed to potty so I let her go next to the building... well the field was covered in stickers and they got all in her hair on her paws/underside. Petsmart was right next door and I figured hey, I'll just have them brush her out. So I asked the lady to simply brush chloes hair out and get the stickers off of her. I went to run some errands and when I came back the front of chloes top knot had been WHACKED OFF. I was extremely upset (still am). The hair on top of her head is almost four inches and now the front is only an inch . I asked the lady what she did and why she cut her hair and she said "it's called a visor it's part of the yorkie cut.". I did not ask her to cut my dogs hair. Does anyone know how long it will take for it to grow back out? 3 inches!! Last edited by Katrinka; 06-19-2009 at 01:46 PM. |

| I can absolutely relate! I paid WAY too much money to go to "the best" (yeah right) groomer because the last groomer shaved off his top knot--just after we got him home. He was 4 and a half months old. By the time he was 11 months...(last month) Chase finally had his top knot back. I just wanted it trimmed ever so slightly and I stayed in the waiting room. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE EXPLICIT to this scissor happy woman. When Chase came out he had the SHORTEST "visor" cut I have ever seen. I almost flipped but somehow held it together. If done correctly, on some dogs the visor cut looks really cute but what was she thinking!!!!!! I can tell you that one month later it has grown maybe 3/4 of an inch. Maybe a bit less. If I had the courage I would try to groom him myself. |

| I was in tears, chloe has never had her hair cut and I didn't intend for PETSMART to be the first place to cut it. No offense to those that use petsmart but I have had them cut olivers hair in the past and vowed to never let them groom my dogs again. Now I know they can't even brush my dogs. I am too afraid to groom my dogs myself also, b/c I know they would look horrible! |

| That's really a shame! I'm sure she still looks really cute but when you specifically didn't even ASK for a haircut... I don't see how they can confuse that?!?! That's just crazy. Obviously, they were doing it the lazy way. They didn't want to sit there and brush all those things out, so they figured they'd just cut her hair. Which is ridiculous.

Just a little hint if you ever get into stickers again......if you take some baby powder and run it into the area with the stickers, they will brush out easlily with very little loss of hair. (I had to do this just the other night with my newest show pup that found the one and only sticker patch in our backyard and rolled in it....lucklily I got all of them out with no hair loss due to the baby powder trick.)

| Tomorrow we have an appointment with another groomer. I'm so nervous. He needs his nails clipped, trim up the scraggly hair on his body but I'm too scared to let them touch his face. I thought about trimming his top knot but he is so wiggly that I'm afraid I will hurt him. I am going to try to insist that I stay. I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to considering that he is super calm even with me there. Having been "burned" now two times I'm just not trusting. |

| Can you post a before and after picture? I bet she still looks cute, but if you said you wanted her brushed out, they should never have cut her hair. I'd call the corporate office and file a complaint. |

| OMG this just happened to me last week I was devestated... I still am but nothing I can do about it.. honestly the groomer agravated me more then the hair cut!!! I said more then 10 times JUST A TRIM , JUST A TRIM. I really was specific because I have read all the horror stories on here.. what did I end up with NO topknot and the same visor cut , I even laid out a new barrette for her and an elastic..... Honestly I wanted to cut the girls pony tail off or give her a visor cut!

| Why do we even give instructions they just don't listen. Why would they even attempt to cut the top knot off of a yorkie. Unless you say give them a visor they should know that a yorkie has a topknot. IDIOTS!!!

| I am so sorry you and your baby went through this. I have a theory that many groomers hate yorkies, that is why they specifically don't listen to you when you tell them not to do something. Too many stories like this, that is why I groom Uni myself. Like as I read a YTer wrote, Why should I pay someone to wreck my dog's hair, when I can do it myself for free?

| Like as I read a YTer wrote, Why should I pay someone to wreck my dog's hair, when I The more stories I read here, the less I think I will ever take my Krystal a groomer. But, I'm also luckier than most. The girlfriend of one of my sons (5 years now) use to be a groomer. Krystal has only been groomed once by Emily and no one else. I will be trimming her as needed and will beg if I have to to have Emily come groom her. |

| I am so sorry this happened to you. I had a Horrible experience at Petsmart and will never go back for grooming. It may take 6 months or so to grow back. In the meantime I would buy some cute clips... |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Feel your pain....had the same experience even after expicitly telling the groomer...do not cut ANY hair on the head. Unfortunately it'll be 6 months or more before it grows back. It takes forever for those "bangs" to get long enough to pull up.
