| What to bring on 1st boarding kennel visit? Does anyone have suggestions on things to bring or NOT to bring for my 2 yorkies in their kennel while they are boarded? They play with all kinds of toys, bones, and each other when I'm around, but I have only left kongs with them in their crate at home with fear of something breaking, choking them, etc. My husband & I are going out of town this weekend with family & I have been unsuccessful in finding a puppy sitter, so my pups (almost 8 months old) are going to the boarding kennel Friday-Sunday for the first time. We have only been apart from them one other time & they stayed at a puppy sitter's house for the week while we were gone. I have visited the kennel, met the owners (owners live on the property), know other people that have brought pets there, pups have all the right shots, and I think everything will be just fine...but I am nervous about leaving my furbabies! The main thing that bugs me is that they will have very limited human interaction, and they pretty much go nuts around other dogs (they have been socialized but go nuts until they can actually MEET a dog that they see) so I'm not sure that they will get much rest. The kennel owners told me that I can bring toys, treats, their crate, etc for them (they are going to stay in the same pen together), but I'm wondering if I should bring them anything that I normally wouldn't give them if left unattended like some of their toy ropes, stuffed toys, other chew toys? The owners live on the property (their house is right by their boarding facility), but they don't watch the dogs all the time. I think that they check on them when they let them outside and when they feed them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

| I have boarded Scooter several times. It is hard in the beginning but just know your babies are having fun and will still love you when you go to get them. As far as what to take, it depends on the space they will be staying in. Scooter is not crate trained but loves his bed. When I board him, I always take: 1) his bed 2) a bag of his food (super important since your babies are already used to it) 3) a chew proof toy or two (make sure these are ones that nothing can come apart on since you aren't sure about the amount of supervision they will have) 4) his leash (if they need it for extra walks or anything) 5) the first time I took Scooter to board, I took a shirt (polo with the buttons cut off) that smelled like me. We are very close and it allowed him to snuggle in his bed with something safe that smelled like me. 6) If I want him to have a special treat one night, I arrange a special time with the facility where they will give whatever I bring to him while supervised (ie, a bully stick or things like it) The facility, unless they tell you otherwise, does not need your babies' food and water bowls. Mine always provides them. Also, be sure to warn the staff if thunderstorms or anything like that scare your babies. I see that you are taking yours to a family home boarding facility. Scooter goes to a place downtown so you may not need the leash. Do the owners have kids? Maybe you can pay a little extra to have the kids play in the yard privately each day with your babies. It may make the stay more fun and wear them out at the same time. I think it is harder on us as parents to board them than it is on them. Good luck!

| They do not directly offer grooming services but if I want to arrange for a mobile groomer to go to the facility, they will make sure he gets cut per my directions. They do offer baths though.
