I vote that you take Laya. Your kitty will be fine overnight. I have left my two for three days and had my mom check up on them everyday. They had plenty of food and water for the entire time, but I felt better that she was there to visit

I say who cares what your distant relatives think of you taking Laya! If having a dog makes you weird... then there are a lot weirder people out there they should be worrying about!

If you are not going to a relatives house that does not allow pets, then I see no problem. If you are going to a State Park that dogs are allowed then she is part of your family, so I vote she be included in the family reunion. Life is too short spend it with the ones you love, all of them!
If they do not want to pet Layla that is their choice, they are probably the one losing out on meeting a GREAT friend!

I have left my cat overnight too, will do great and be very happy to see you the next day.

I'll be spending the night at my moms house so that's not a problem. She adores Laya as much as I do. You're right, if they don't want to have anything to do with Laya it's ok. She will most likely be in her stroller anyway.

It sure is okay to leave you alone for one night. Unlike dogs, I think cats prefer a little me time every now and then. I have a cat too and I left her alone for two nights. I swear she acted like she was mad at me for coming home. Just leave plenty of food and water and and clean litter box and your cat should be okay. My cat is very stand offish so she really loves the solitude. Also I have a sticker on my front door and back door that says "PETS INSIDE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL THIS NUMBER".

Any longer the two nights, I have my stepmom check in on her about every other day until I get home.
