Yesterday, I had to get a bunch of tests done at the hospital and we had to leave Kaia and the younger pup alone for 3 hours. We came back, and noticed residue of vomit on the blanket but because we couldn't catch it quickly, she re-ate it.

We knew it was her because she's vomited any time we've left her alone longer than 15 minutes.

She ate her dinner last night around 6:30 although her and Riker both didn't eat as much as they normally do. I woke up this morning a little later than usual (past her regular breakfast feeding) and Kaia threw up a yellowish foam. I figured it was due to hunger and I quickly ran downstairs to feed her and Riker but they turned their nose to it. This was especially alarming because Kaia always gobbles her food down.

I gave her some Nutri-Cal and she and Riker both ate some. Afterwards they played normally and had the same amount of energy. She also drank some water but didn't touch her food. She and Riker both ate their normal treats (some chicken chips and a dried yam.) I had to pick up my medications at Walgreens and took them both in their carriers and Kaia vomited twice in the car.

Fortunately, we were only gone for 30 minutes and I tried to feed her some boiled chicken but she only took a couple of bites. Riker hasn't had much of an appetite either but he's still eating a little more than her. Could the chicken be bad or undercooked?

I called the Vet and explained what was going on and they told me to observe her overnight, keep her on a bland diet and bring her in tomorrow. If the symptoms got worse they suggested to take her to the emergency room. She's walking around and playing a bit, but she's not nearly as energetic and hasn't touched the chicken. Anyone have any suggestions or have had this happen to them?

I am so sorry. It has to be stressful having all of that going on at the same time.

Honestly, it sounds like she's stressed out to me. I would follow your vet's advice. The only other thing I would do is check her gums frequently to make sure they are pink and healthy looking. If they become pale, then you might reconsider.

You might both need to snuggle up and get some rest.

I agree with Judy, it is probably just anxiety.

Thanks for the responses! It's helpful to have other Yorkie owners' advice before jumping to the worst conclusion. Once I took my shoes off she started to relax inside, she seemed to eat a little more chicken.

She's really an emotional little girl and she cries even if she can't find us in our condo.

Are they the freeze dried chicken chips?

We use the Waggin' Train yams and chicke'n biscuits...the packaging says its a product of US...not China. Is it only the products from China or ANY dried chicken type products? We didn't give the pups any of those treats yesterday, just today when they didn't have an appetite.

I just mixed a little bit of cottage cheese with the boiled chicken and Kaia at some of it. Riker had some bites afterwards. Riker always waits for Kaia to finish eating until he starts. She's starting to act herself again, wrestling with Riker and playing tug of war but I'm keeping a very close eye on the both of them.

That's great.

Continue with the bland diet for awhile though. Don't stop it too soon.
