| Need help with what size life jacket to get I am thinking about ordering Louis a lifejacket from outward hound in size xxs. It says fits up to 11 llbs with a girth os 11"-14". Does anyone have one of these lifejackets? If so, what size dog/life jacket do you have? |

| Bailey is 14" I didn't get him xxs, which the the life jacket said would fit him, I got him xs because that looked like it would fit him better. I tried it out for the first time yesterday and it worked!!! I would go more by his measurements, then by the size on the jacet...

| Mia has outward hound xs. she is 6 pounds and it fits fine. Last year when she was smaller, 4 pounds it made her a little lopsided in the water. This year it is perfect. She swims in our pool lots. I usually only use it if she is in the pool for a very long time. I don't want her getting overly tired. Our pool is 75 feet long, so it is a big swim for her. hope this helps |

| Does a yorkie need a life jacket? I was just reading this post, and hadn't thought about my yorkies needing life jackets. I got them in January this year & live in Minnesota so have not had the need to think about this yet. My husband & I will be vacationing at the lake this summer over a few different weekends, and we're taking the pups. Do yorkies have a problem with swimming? I thought dogs could swim...are life jackets really necessary? I'm guessing it might depend on their size because if they're so small they could probably get swept away? Mine are 8 & 10 pounds though. If I was in a boat, I would have a life jacket for me, but I would think that I could hold on to my puppies if I saw them struggling, plus I would probably be in the water with them at all times...are there any regulations for life jackets & dogs that I should know about, or any risks that I should think about if considering NOT getting them life jackets?

| Do you have a Petsmart or Petco near you. I got LOLA her outward hound life jacket at Petsmart. Petco had them too. They will especially have them now because it's a seasonal item. If you have one of those stores now I would just take her in and have her try one on for size |

| I got my Lola her outward hound lifejacket at PetSmart - she's only 2.5 lbs so the xxs is too big for her but it's pretty small in general I think. I recommend going in and trying one on too if you can!

| life jackets I don't think there is any requirement you have a life jacket for your dog. I do have them for mine. My little guy can't figure out waves, bites at them and attacks them. He will stay in the water for a long time, so instead of worrying about him, I keep him in his life jacket (a long time translates to 1/2 hr or so). My little girl loves to chase my lab when he chases sticks. She swims out pretty far to get to him, so I put one on her. Just peace of mind. When we know they are just going to be in the water for a short time, I do not put them in their life jackets. They are in XS and are about 6 lbs. |

| I just got Lexi her outward Hound life jacket from PetSmart. ONly $17.99 She is 6.5 lbs and the x small fit great! Some dogs like Labs have that webbing in between their toes they are natural swimmers. But Yorkies have no webbing, shorter legs and a tendency to panic and exhaust themselves. Also to brave for their own good sometimes. Our Lexi, first time out in the boat, just randomly jumped in! It happened so fast! Luckily I had her on a leash and pulled her right back in. So Life Jacket for her. Plus we got her a cute pink one, very stylish. |
