| Jackson is 7 months old and I've left him twice for four-five days each time. He was about 4 months old when I went to Disneyworld for four nights. I missed him so much but he stayed with my mom and stepdad and did absolutely fine. I went to South Carolina in April for four nights as well and he did wonderful then too. I don't know if I could get the heart to put him in a kennel... lol. So he always stays with family. If family wasn't available, I'd hire someone to come over my house where he's comfortable.

| Well, my husband and I both love to take road trips, usually 10 to 16 days is all he can get away from his job at a time. So 2 or 3 times a year we do just that. Since we have 6 dogs and 10 birds I enjoy getting away from the daily routine of their care (more the birds than the dogs, they are alot of work). We are fortunate to have a good family friend or our daughter come to stay in our home and care for them all. |

| I've never been away from my dogs however I will be taking a trip to Arizona next week and they will be staying home with my husband for 3 nights. I am a bit nervous about it but at least they will be with *daddy* and in their own environment. |

| -0- ... zip ... never ... I know, I know, we need to get a life!! Toto will be six years old in July [got her at 16 weeks] and I have never spent a night away from her. When we travel [by air or car], we only go places that she can go. Neither of us would really enjoy going anywhere without her anyway. When Patrick has had to be away from her, he is miserable and so is she, even though they do "talk" on the phone!

| I just left my Addie for a long vacay for the first time ever. I went to Korea with my mom for five weeks. We missed our little bunny. We had friends watch her. I'd definitely definitely recommend having someone who knows about dogs (preferably yorkies) to puppysit your love. |

| We have 3 babies and my daughter has 2. We usually switch on watching them if one of us goes away overnight...My son and his wife live 3 hours away and have for 4 years and I have only been to see them 4-5 times and its crazy because I don't like to leave the furkids!!! The longest I have been apart from them is 4 days.. I need to do it more often though, its refreshes you and reminds you that you can survive without them for a night or so My son understands, he has 2 labs that are their babies!

| The longest we have been away from Chester is 5 days, when we went to Vegas. Oh, I did not like that. My heart was broken. My dad watched him. I was on the phone four or five times a day asking how he was doing. He played with his mini daschund the whole time and we go over to my dad's house once or twice a week, so I figured he would be okay. Not so. He slept downstairs with my sister and she said she never got any sleep because he whined so much every night. I would call and have them put me on speaker phone so I could talk to him. When we did come home, my sister who lives with us picked him up and brought him to the airport as a surprise. I was so excited to see him, but he completely ignored us for two whole days. He wouldn't even get up on the bed to play with us.

| 10 days We went on vacation for 10 days this year when our puppies were 5 months old (our vacation was scheduled before we even thought we were going to get Buster & Bailey). We left them in a couple s home who have puppy sat from time to time for some people that we work with. We knew the people pretty well and they let Buster & Bailey be in their home the whole time we were gone. I have a friend that uses a kennel, but her dog is about 25 pounds. I know of someone else who used the same kennel with a small shihtzu and her puppy did not sleep at all & was so stressed that they'll never take her back. If we leave our pups again, they will be at a puppy sitter, I just can't bring them to a kennel after a lot of stories I've heard about small dogs getting stressed at a kennel. A lot of people have had good kennel experiences though. Make sure to do your homework and trust the person/people you leave your furbaby with! FYI: When I went to pick my babies up, they remembered me, and were their smiley, happy selves. Everyone needs a break sometimes and it's OK to do so :O)
