| Not sure if this is an issue.. Pixel is a 5 mo. old yorkie poo who has been greatly improving her potty training. I've noticed recently it's gotten a little worse as she'd squat right in front of us anywhere she wanted. Turns out she's got a urninary tract infection and she's been on antibiotics and only has 1 or 2 pills left. The UTI should be better by now but she has been peeing her crate now. The divider is in so she can just fit comfortably. She's also got a blanket in there (she won't go in w/o one). I was debating leaving her crate open at night in hopes that she can go use the wee wee pad when she needs to but that's also a long shot. Does this sound common? Any good remedies? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Welcome to YT! Personally, I would keep it closed for a month or so, then maybe try leaving it open. I'd make sure the infection was gone & everything returned to normal before giving the freedom. At her age her control should be pretty good without infection.

| I'd be concerned that maybe her UTI hasn't cleared up. Vets usually just guess at what antibiotic will work at first and prescribe either Clavamox or Baytril. Sometimes a sterile culture has to be done if it doesn't clear up right away to find out exactly what antibiotic is needed. Most uti's are caused by E-coli which is very resistant to antibiotics. It can be tricky to find the right one. |
